Mercer County Household Hazardous Waste Event

The Mercer County Improvement Authority is sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection and electronics recycling event on Saturday, June 5, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mercer County residents can bring materials to the Dempster Fire School located at 350 Lawrence Station Road in Lawrence Township.

West Windsor Community Farmers Market

Opening Day of the West Windsor Community Farmers Market’s eighteenth year begins Saturday, May 1. To keep everyone safe and distanced, the entrance to the market has changed to 877 Alexander Road through the upper Vaughn Lot. The Market will run each and every Saturday, rain or shine from 9am-1pm until Thanksgiving featuring seventeen farms and twenty artisan food makers and a knife sharpener, all from within fifty-miles of West Windsor. 

Joining the roster this year are three farms: Moonshot Farms, Snapping Turtle Farm, and SpiceBush Farm along with Catalina Empanadas, Pure Indian Foods, River Horse Brewery, Sourland Mountain Spirits, Tea-For-All. Look for more organic produce, East Asian vegetables, beer, local spirits, and grass-fed ghee. Mask wearing continues to be required by all, and hand sanitizer stations are located throughout.

Trail Maintenance Day, Nature Center at Washington Crossing State Park

Volunteer to come out for the morning and undertake seasonal maintenance on park trails (Trimming, brushing, cleanup, invasive species removal, etc.). This event is being coordinated with the American Hiking Society's National Trails Day® event. Bring a pair of work gloves and any vegetation cutting tools you might have such as lopping shears, hand snips, bow saw, etc. We will have some tools onsite to lend. Advanced registration required. We will waive the park entrance fee for any volunteers. Free. Adults

Old Time Baseball Game, Howell Living History Farm

Take to the field with the Bulls or the Hogs and play ball! Howell Farm's two teams play by 19th-century Town Ball rules, and invite visitors of all ages to step up to the plate as "Striker" and face off against the "Thrower." But be careful of the Referee, who sits in a chair on the field and charges fines of up to 5 cents for breaking the rules!

11:00 a.m. – Watch the Flemington Neshanocks face off against the Elizabeth Resolutes in a historic baseball club match

1:30 p.m. – Join Howell Farm's own Hogs and Bulls for a public game on the farmhouse lawn

The Romantics , MCCC - Two Showtimes

The Romantics is an immersive experience, touring the scenic grounds of the West Windsor Campus of Mercer County Community College. As you make your way on foot through the campus, you will come across dances, poetry and theatrical scenes. During this immersive experience, as you are walking the grounds, you will also be taught the techniques of shinrin-yoku (“forest bathing” or “taking in the forest atmosphere”) a communing with nature that is, at once, relaxing and invigorating.

Feel free to bring lawn chairs or a walker should you like to sit during the short dances, poetry, and theatrical scenes. Or you may feel free to stand the entire time. The performance crosses many terrains: over grass, up and down small hills with some walking on gravel or concrete, please wear appropriate footwear.

On Friday night at 4 PM, there will be a performance for people with mobility issues. If you do not feel comfortable walking, you can remain seated the entire time. Audience members must wear masks during the entire performance and we ask that you maintain social distance for Covid prevention.

This performance is limited to 60 people. There is a 10 minute intermission between the two acts. The performance is two hours including the 10 minute intermission. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students. The Programme will be available online.

The Fantasticks, Music Mountain Theater

The Fantasticks is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, and their two fathers who try to keep them apart. The narrator, El Gallo, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo's words that, "without a hurt, the heart is hollow."

Princeton Boychoir Spring Concert: Journey On

Princeton Boychoir’s spring concert, Journey On, will premiere on Saturday June 5th at 7:00pm. There will be an encore performance on Sunday June 6th at 4:00pm. Both performances will be streamed on Westrick Music Academy’s YouTube channel. In lieu of tickets, there is a suggested donation of $10, but any amount is greatly appreciated.

This special concert will feature all three PBC choirs singing music they learned during online rehearsal this spring. Journey On will include a variety of music traditions and will share the boys’ journey of joy and hope through song, reflecting on this challenging time while also looking to brighter days ahead. Journey On will be led by Westrick Music Academy Education Director and PBC Music Director, Fred Meads.
