Birding Field Trip, Washington Crossing Audubon Society

Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society from 8:30 AM – noon on Saturday, February 1 for a free, public birding trip led by Mark Witmer and Brad Merritt at Round Valley Reservoir in Hunterdon County, NJ. Surrounding a 4000 acre, 180-foot deep reservoir, Round Valley is a popular year-round recreation site and winter site for bald eagles, various waterfowl and gulls. Depending on weather, we will also tour the adjacent Cushetonk Mountain Nature Preserve or nearby Spruce Run Recreation Area. From Bach to Bowie, from Pennington to Pakistan - Piano Concert Featuring Meral Guneyman

On February 1, Turkish American pianist, Steinway Artist and Pennington resident Meral Guneyman, an internationally celebrated concert pianist, recording artist and music educator, plans to present “Across the Universe,” a benefit concert and stirring musical tribute to composers across genres spanning the centuries. The concert will feature piano compositions and transcriptions of timeless music from Asia to the Americas, including the Four Giant B’s (Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, The Beatles and David Bowie).

The concert will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Swat Relief Initiative (SRI) (www.swatreliefinitiative.org), a Pennington-based all-volunteer charitable non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and children by fostering education and literacy, especially among girls and women, women’s economic empowerment and vocational training, preventive healthcare, and community development, among other endeavors, within the remote, mountainous Swat Valley of northern Pakistan. TICKETS

The FLUX Quartet plays Stravinsky's early Three Pieces—a complete and revolutionary work in three movements that only lasts 4 minutes—and is joined by pianist Vicki Ray in Morton Feldman's lush, delicate, 80-minute Piano and String Quartet. A reception in the Fuld Hall Common Room will follow the Saturday evening performance. Tickets are required for the concert and are offered through an online registration system. As a member of the Institute community, you may request up to two tickets by visiting the following links.

Please note that performances are not suitable for children under the age of eight.
