Battles of Trenton Reenactment, Old Barracks Museum

Come experience our annual winter reenactment during Trenton's Patriots Week Celebration! On Saturday, December 28th, be immersed in history as you are surrounded by reenactors portraying the soldiers who fought during the Battles of Trenton, which ultimately shaped the destiny of the Revolutionary War and our nation. Follow the troops through the streets and watch as they relive the events of these fateful battles. Come back to interact with the soldiers, take tours of the oldest free-standing military barracks in North America, and visit The Quartermaster's Store.

The Battle of Trenton reenactment will begin at the Old Barracks Museum when the troops march off at 10:45 AM to the Battle of Trenton Monument at the intersection of Warren and Broad Streets. The reenactment will begin at 11 AM at the Battle of Trenton Monument and proceeds down Warren Street towards Mill Hill Park. Head back to the Old Barracks Museum for programming and a musket demonstration ($5 admission applies).

The Second Battle of Trenton (or the Battle of the Assunpink) is reenacted in Mill Hill Park at 3 PM – witness the action live! The Old Barracks Museum is located at 101 Barrack Street, Trenton, NJ. Parking for the event is free, close, and plentiful, available in the small lot next to the museum as well as the lot next to The War Memorial. There is special reduced pricing for this event. 12pm - Season of Light - Season of Light explores the reasons humans are so fascinated with lighting up our lives during the December holiday season. Discover the astronomical meanings behind different seasonal traditions, including the "Star over Bethlehem."

1pm - One World One Sky - Join Sesame Street’s Big Bird, Elmo and their Chinese friend Hu Hu Zhu on a discovery of the sun, moon, and stars! 

2pm - Laser Holiday Magic - Our new full-spectrum laser beams dance along with dazzling animated laser effects set to popular holiday music such as Winter Wonderland, Frosty the Snowman and many more. Enjoy a unique, festive experience under the stars at New Jersey’s largest full dome planetarium. Suitable for general audiences.  

3pm - Tales of the Maya Skies -Tales of the Maya Skies is a bilingual (English/Spanish) 34 minute digital full-dome show that immerses the audience into the Maya astronomy, art and culture through a custom score and visuals. Tales of the Maya Skies inspires and educates through its description of the Maya's accurate astronomical achievements and how astronomy connected them to the Universe.

"The Trouble with Trenton" Children's Puppet Show, Old Barracks Museum

Get the children involved first-hand with Washington's victory in Trenton with the exciting, interactive puppet show "The Trouble with Trenton"! This "mini" historical look at an amazing piece of our history is presented with marionettes and rod puppets - and lots of help from the audience! Watch the battle unfold before your eyes, and see the action as it has never been seen before. Show includes live music, large puppets and props, and plenty of "revolting" action.

The puppet show will take place on Saturday, December 28 at 12 PM and 2 PM, in between the Battles of Trenton reenactments. This free event takes place at Hanover Street Plaza, on the corner of West Hanover Street and North Warren Street, just a block off of East State Street. The Old Barracks Museum is located at 101 Barrack Street, Trenton, NJ. Parking for the event is free, close, and plentiful, available in the small lot next to the museum as well as the lot next to The War Memorial.
