Team Parkinson 5K & Fun Run at Carnegie Center

Join the Team Parkinson 5K & Fun Run at Carnegie Center on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 101 Carnegie Center Drive, in Princeton, NJ, and help raise awareness and funds for much-needed research into Parkinson’s disease. Race proceeds to support Parkinson’s disease research.

The 5K is a USATF Certified Course, and Sanctioned Race; USATF-NJ Grand Prix Event: 500 points. There will be a 1-Mile Fun Run and family-friendly activities—with a Kids’ Zone, Refreshments, Door Prizes, and a Parkinson’s Disease Information Booth. Walkers, families, individuals, and teams are welcome.

Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society (www.washingtoncrossingaudubon.org) at 8 AM on Saturday, September 21, for a free, public birding trip led by Sharyn Magee and Juanita Hummel at St. Michael's Farm Preserve in Hopewell. We will explore the Preserve for fall migrants such as sparrows, raptors and other passerines associated with open space. This is an excellent place and time for a fall nature walk. Directions: From Rosedale Road, turn right on Carter Road and continue four miles to find parking lot on the right just before entering Hopewell Borough. From 206, go west on Route 518, continue six miles and turn left on Princeton Avenue in Hopewell Borough at the traffic light. The main parking lot is 0.5 mile out Princeton Avenue on the left.

Young Patriot’s Day, Princeton Battlefield Society

The Princeton Battlefield Society will bring colonial life, the American Revolution, and the January 3, 1777 Battle of Princeton to life for students at “Young Patriot’s Day” on Saturday, September 21 at the Princeton Battlefield State Park. (The rain date will be September 28.)

Some of the activities include: New Jersey Grey reenactors - drilling, marching, and camp life as well as musket and artillery firing at 11 am and 2 pm., 18th century medicine, ice cream making (and tasting), visits to the Thomas Clarke House, the only remaining major 1777 structure on the battlefield, activities for kids.

Registered “young patriots” will receive gifts. A $10 registration donation per family or group is requested and can be made on our website (www.pbs1777.org). At the event the registration donation will be $15.


Trenton Ciclovia/Open Streets Festival

For one day, Warren Street (from the Battle Monument to downtown Trenton) will become temporarily car-free for families to run, walk, skate, ride bikes, enjoy active events, and explore the city's streets and history! Ciclovia is an opportunity to transform our streets into a public space for all of the community.

Children's Charity Fun Run/Walk & Fall Festival, Snipes Farm

This is the 6th year that Extreme Fitness has hosted this wonderful 5K fun run (untimed) and 1 mile fun walk, raising money to support the farm's summer education camp for children. The 5K will take you through the entire 100+ acre organic farm. You will move by the corn maze, past the vegetable and wildflower fields, through the open pastures, up and down the apple orchard rows and finally through the wooded trail! The event coincides with the opening day of the farm's fall season, bringing 80+ vendors to the site!

Hackensack Meridian Health Carrier Clinic will host its annual Walk of Hope & Awareness Day on Saturday, Sept. 21, in support of Carrier’s many programs to treat mental illness and drug addiction. The public is invited to take part in this special day of inspiration.

Sign-in for walkers opens at 9 a.m. The 1-mile walk around the Carrier campus begins at 10 a.m. ??Walkers are invited to bring their dogs so long as those pets are on a leash and are vaccinated. Individual participants are urged to aim high and raise more than $109 (one dollar for every year of Carrier’s existence). Walkers can also form teams, inviting others to join.?

Explore the splendor of Bordentown's historic architecture in these private homes and historic sites, many of which date to Revolutionary times! Restaurant row and many of the boutique shops along Farnsworth Ave. and throughout Bordentown will offer great discounts to ticket holders!
