Two Breast Cancer Events – A Bike Ride and a 5K Walk -- Combined To Become The Amy Foundation Ride & Stride

Sunday, June 23 at South Brunswick High School

"The Amy Foundation Ride & Stride" offers a choice of four bicycle routes (15, 25, 40 and 50 miles) and a 5K Walk to help raise funds for women who are unable to afford procedures to detect breast cancer early, when it's most treatable, and receive potentially life-saving care. All riders and walkers are asked for a $40 registration fee, as well as to raise $180 – the cost of a screening mammogram -- by accessing The Amy Foundation website: www.amyfoundation.org. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. A light breakfast and BBQ lunch will be offered free to all participants and volunteers. WMGQ Magic 98.3 radio station also will be on site providing, music, games and prizes.

Multimedia Bilingual Reading, Chinese Poet Xue Di

Princeton Public Library - 65 Withspoon Street, Princeton

Award-winning poet Xue Di will give a multi-media presentation of his poetry entitled “Across Borders” as part of the Princeton Festival on Sunday, June 23 at noon in the Princeton Public Library. The public is invited to attend. The Library is co-sponsoring the free event, which takes place just before the Festival’s premiere performance of the opera Nixon in China. Details on both events plus ticket information for the opera are available at www.princetonfestival.org.

“Across Borders” will open with projections of gorgeous scenery from China, accompanied by Chinese classical music. Xue Di will read his poetry in Chinese, followed by English translations read by prominent American poet Jonathan Wells. Xue Di will also take questions from the audience and will offer comments and perspectives in English to heighten understanding about China and its people, and poetry in the East. A book signing concludes the reading. Refreshments will be served.

Soprano Sarai Cole, bass-baritone Kevin Misslich, and pianist Lynda Saponara have joined forces to present All I Ask of You, an afternoon of operatic arias and duets to be performed on Sunday, June 23 at 4pm at Pennington United Methodist Church (60 South Main St.) to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

All I Ask of You features music from Flying Dutchman, Aida, and Phantom of the Opera.

All proceeds from the free will offering at the door will be donated to AFSP.
