Birding Field Trip, Washington Crossing Audubon Society

Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society on Saturday, March 30 at 8 AM for a free, public field trip led by Sharyn Magee around the Pole Farm of Mercer Meadows. We will be on alert for raptors, woodpeckers, migration fly-overs, early migrating songbirds and possibly a bald eagle. Take Keefe Rd. to Cold soil Rd. At the bend, the entrance is marked with a sign "Mercer Meadows Pole Farm" on the left. Meet in the parking lot. Please register with Brad Merritt (609) 921-8964 prior to the trip for carpooling instructions, or the evening prior for cancellation updates in the event of inclement weather.

Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste Disposal Day

The Mercer County Improvement Authority (MCIA) will host a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste Disposal Day on Saturday, March 30, for County residents who would like to recycle common residential chemical wastes or used electronics.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the John T. Dempster Fire School at 350 Lawrence Station Road in Lawrence, rain or shine. While no registration is necessary, the event is open to Mercer County residents only, and attendees will need to show proof of residency, such as a driver’s license. No commercial or industrial waste will be accepted. For more information, click here.

NOFA-NJ Board member Al Johnson, who has farmed or gardened organically for over 40 years will present this talk. Other topics for discussion include site assessment, water planning, soil fertility, and small fruit primer. Participants are encouraged to bring their site specific questions. Lunch and refreshments are included.

Help us to protect the next generation of forest plants from deer. First we'll search for and learn about young native woody plants in the dormant forest, then we'll build quick, affordable wire hoop fences to protect the saplings we find. Learn skills that can be used in your backyard or local projects. You'll also learn more about our Baldpate restoration site, where Sourland Stewards leaders have been at work assessing, planning, monitoring, and implementing an ambitious ecological restoration. Spring Rabies Clinic, Princeton Fire Department

Princeton Health Department will be hosting a free rabies clinic Saturday, March 30th 2019. This clinic will be held the Princeton Fire Department, 363 Witherspoon Street, Princeton NJ from 10am to Noon. • This is a free service for any NJ resident • Cats and Dogs only • All dogs must be on a leash controlled by a responsible adult • All cats must be in a carrier or pillow case.

Microchip Service Available! Our friends at SAVE Animal Shelter will be on site offering microchip services for $25. Princeton Animal Control carries a portable microchip scanner. In cases where we find a pet with no collar, we could scan that animal in the field and possibly locate an owner with the microchip information. This is highly recommended for all dogs and cats.
