SPEAK UP FOR A CHILD!

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Mercer & Burlington Counties is currently seeking new volunteers! CASA for Children of Mercer & Burlington Counties is a non-profit organization that recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers who speak up in Family Court for the best interests of children that have been removed from their families due to abuse and/or neglect and placed in the foster care system. Our volunteers strive to ensure the physical, emotional, and educational well being of these children.

From Blade Runner to Westworld, the portrayal and social influences of human-like robots – or androids – will be the topic of an upcoming lecture at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) Feb. 7.

“The Android Archetype: From Metropolis to Westworld” will be the subject of a lecture by Dr. William Indick, professor of Psychology at William Paterson University, at noon on Thursday, Feb. 7 in the Communications Building, Room 109. His talk is part of MCCC’s spring 2019 Distinguished Lecture Series at the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Rabbi Julie Roth will be speaking about “The College Campus: Frontier of American Judaism”.

Rabbi Julie Roth: Based on her 14 years at Princeton University, she will share insights into Jewish identity and the key issues facing Jewish college students today. Rabbi Roth enjoys nothing more than meeting with students, faculty, and alumni, and her passion for pluralism, Jewish life, and multi-culturalism make campus work an ideal match. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Rabbi Roth holds a B.A. in Comparative Religion from Brown University and was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary in 20015. She is a recipient of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship and the Richard J. Joel Exemplar of Excellence Award from Hillel International, its highest professional honor. Rabbi Roth and her husband, Rabbi Justus Baird live in Princeton with their twin boys, Ilan and Rafael, and daughter, Noa.

OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY at the Jewish Center of Princeton (435 Nassau St.). Non-member entrance fee: $5. Dessert will be served.
