10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

At The Lewis School, learning problems are understood, not as disabilities, but as differences: the expression of remarkable and diverse capacities of human thinking and perceptions. The purpose of a Lewis School education is to prepare students, who may struggle with language-based learning issues related to dyslexia, attention deficit and auditory processing, to thrive academically, as they learn to restore the confidence and self-esteem they need to achieve their scholastic and personal best.

We welcome prospective parents and interested professionals to come learn more about The Lewis School during Open House. Held on Saturday mornings at 10:00, each Open House is an opportunity for you to learn of our programs, meet some of the teachers, current parents, and former students, to enjoy a tour of our school.

Saturday October 27, 2018
6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Come learn about the Origins of Halloween during a nighttime hike on a glowing jack 'o lantern-lit path.

After each group finishes making a Halloween craft at the Watershed Center, they are off with their trail guides following the decorated path. The group makes a half-dozen stops on the hour long program and hear the Legend of Stingy Jack, and meet other Irish folktale characters.

While other Halloween programs are designed to frighten, our goal is to educate and entertain. After the performance, we will roast marshmallows around a campfire. Then we'll head back to the Watershed Center for refreshments and goodies from a bake sale.

The various sessions of the hour long program begin at 6 p.m., with different groups leaving every 15 minutes. The last hike starts at 8:30 p.m. Space is limited so register early to get your preferred time slot. General audience, ages five and older. Dress warmly and get ready to have fun!

Saturday October 27, 2018
8:00 PM

This searing drama tells the story of the Youngers, a black working class family struggling to achieve the American Dream in the face of racial tensions and economic disenfranchisement in 1950s Chicago. When an unexpected financial windfall gives them the opportunity for a better life, conflicts both within and outside the family and pressures from without threaten to tear it apart. All hopes hinge on their next move. Lorraine Hansberry’s drama, the first Broadway play by an African-American woman, changed the face of American theater, and relevant six decades after its debut.

Dates and show times are Fridays, Oct. 19 and 26 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 20 and 27 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Oct. 21 and 28 at 2 p.m. (There will be a school performance on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m.) Kelsey Theatre is located on the college’s West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
