Greetings from Mars - Princeton Summer Theater's Annual Children's Show

Share:

Saturday July 14, 2018
11:00 AM

Following last year's successful "Amelia Earhart Forever," Princeton Summer Theater is happy to be presenting another original children's show.

For Mars Peculiarity Rover, life on Mars consists of cataloguing rocks and transmitting back to an Earth that feels further and further away all the time - but everything changes the day a star falls and an alien star-catcher comes chasing after it. This romp through the solar system is a playful exploration of scientific discovery, dogs in space, and how friendships can transform even a lonely red planet.

After each performance, actors will come out to meet with children, sign their programs, and talk about their characters and the play.

Located in the Hamilton Murray Theater on Princeton University's Campus. SHOW DATES 7/6, 7/7, 7/13, 7/14, 7/20, 7/21, 7/27, 7/28 at 11 am

Pradhanica & Leonardo Suarez Paz's Cuartetango, Pettoranello Gardens

Share:

Saturday July 14, 2018
7:00 PM

After 14 years of bringing world-class musicians from around the globe, Blue Curtain returns to Pettoranello Gardens Amphitheater (Route 206 and Mountain Ave.) on Saturdays, July 14 and July 21. Each concert starts at 7PM. This live entertainment is free and open to all to attend.

Pradhanica Dance and Music explores the sonic and narrative possibilities of rhythm through dance and music. Dizzying spins, fast-paced footwork, immersive emotions, and dynamic drumming come together in this contemporary presentation of the Indian classical dance form of Kathak.

Leonardo Suarez Paz leads the two-time Latin GRAMMY-Award nominated Cuartetango string quartet with bandoneon and tango dance to the forefront of 21st century Nuevo Tango, following in the footsteps of his mentor and friend, Astor Piazzolla. A singer, tango dancer and "virtuoso extraordinaire on the violin" (Wynton Marsalis), Suarez Paz brings forth a new vision of Argentina's rich culture with an "ingenious musical concept," (The Day, CT).

Saturday July 14, 2018
7:30 PM

The Old Barracks Museum celebrates history, music, and warm summer evenings with the fourth annual Taptoe Concert Series on July 14 and July 28. The gates open at 7:30 PM and the music starts at 8 PM to magically and musically transport you to the 18th century. Reserved seating is available on the balconies or you can bring a lawn chair and enjoy the performance from the ground.

The Taptoe recreates a summer evening in 18th century Trenton, when the musick and the guard would march through a garrison town signaling the time for the taverns to close their taps and for the soldiers to return to their barracks. Beginning at dusk, the evening will be illuminated with dramatic lighting by torches, candles, and spotlights. In addition to a selection of military tunes, an orchestral and dramatic production of music from the motion picture The Last of the Mohicans composed by Trevor Jones will be performed by the Barracks Band of Musick conducted by Daniel Spalding.

Advanced tickets available for purchase online at www.barracks.org. Ticket prices are as follows: $25 reserved balcony seating with included light refreshments; $10 lawn seating; $20 reserved balcony seating for Old Barracks Museum members.
