Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society from 8:00 AM on Saturday, June 9 for a free, public birding trip led by Wayne Hendrick and Franta Broulik at Washington Crossing State Park. We will walk trails looking for spring migrants and resident birds in wooded areas and adjacent fields of the park. Directions: Washington Crossing State Park is located off of Washington Crossing – Pennington Road in Titusville, NJ. Enter the park and follow signs to the Nature Center. Park at the Nature Center parking lot. Call Brad Merritt at (609) 921-8964 if additional information is needed or in case of inclement weather.

Millstone River Canoe Trip, The Watershed Institute

Look for American shad and other migratory fish from canoe or kayak as we journey along the Millstone River from Griggstown to Manville, accompanied by staff from The Watershed Institute. Watershed scientists and naturalists will describe how last summer's removal of the Weston Mill Dam restored historic migration routes for American shad and other fish that have been blocked for nearly three centuries from the Millstone River. This section is the heart of our watershed. Canoes and kayaks will be rented on site and the fee covers the watercraft, paddle, and a PFD. A lifeguard will accompany the outing. Fee depends on the type of watercraft rented. Directions will be sent after registration.

USRowing will sponsor its National Learn to Row Day on June 2 but due to a conflict at the Mercer Lake venue with the IRA Championships, PNRA will host a Learn to Row event on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Led by Mercer Masters rowers, you will be introduced to the sport of rowing, including a tour of the boathouse facilities, learning the basics of the stroke on the indoor rowing machines (ergometers) and finally, getting out on the water to take some strokes in a boat! On Saturday, June 9th, 2018 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm, the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System will be hosting the world’s only science fiction convention devoted to the work of legendary author R. A. Lafferty. The library will have panels on three of Lafferty’s novels: Not to Mention Camels, Past Master, and Okla Hannali. We will have an art show and free refreshments.

The convention will be held at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System, located at 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville. Registration suggested online through EventKeeper. From earthquakes to tidal waves to infernos, disaster movies were the film genre of the 1970s that just would not go away. Prepare to laugh as Pierrot Productions presents “Disaster! A Musical” at Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC’s) Kelsey Theatre.

Dates and show times are Fridays, June 8 and 15 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, June 9 and June 16 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, June 10 and 17 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college’s West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
