From a small expanse of land on the North American continent came four of the nation’s first five presidents–a geographic dynasty whose members led a revolution, created a nation, and ultimately changed the world. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe were born, grew to manhood, and made their homes within a sixty-mile circle east of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Friends and rivals, they led in securing independence, hammering out the United States Constitution, and building a working republic. Acting together, they doubled the territory of the United States. From their disputes came American political parties and the weaponizing of newspapers, the media of the day. Beth El Synagogue Women’s League Presents “The University of Shtisel”

On Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 7:30 pm, the Beth El Synagogue of East Windsor Women's League presents, The University of Shtisel, A Conversation. Shtisel, the hit Netflix show about a fictional Haredi family living in Jerusalem centers around the black-hatted ultra-Orthodox community, but its themes are universal. Join us for a recorded conversation between international actress Ayelet Zurer, who plays Elisheva in the series, and renowned educator Layah Lipsker, highlighting the appeal, authenticity, and meaning of the show.

This one-hour video was originally presented by the Friends of Jordan River Village, a year-round camp for children with disabilities, located in the Lower Galilee region of Israel. This discussion will be held using Zoom. You must register to receive the Zoom link. 609-443-4454
