Princeton HealthCare System Kids Marathon

Kids in grades K-8 can join the Kids Marathon to walk, run or roll 25 miles over several weeks before gathering on Sept. 10 to complete the final 1.2 miles together. Marathoners receive a medal and incentives as they reach milestones. Kids can also choose to participate only in the 1.2 mile Fun Run on Sept. 10. All participants receive a T-shirt. Registration is $25, benefiting PHCS programs to promote wellness and prevent obesity in children.

Mercer County College to Host ‘Playfest 2017’ - Competition Open to Community College Playwrights Statewide - The competition is open to all student playwrights and actors from the state’s 19 community colleges. Community college alumni are also invited to participate. Submission categories include full-length and one-act plays, as well as musicals and plays with musical accompaniment. The winning productions will be presented on stage at MCCC’s Kelsey Theatre the week of March 7 to 12, 2017. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded to the college(s) of top playwright(s); the playwright who submits the overall winning script will be awarded a slot for his/her production in Kelsey Theatre’s 2017 summer season, according to Kelsey Artistic Director M. This 8 - week course offers 3rd - 5th graders the tools they need to develop the life - long skill of Mindfulness. Call To Artists: The Hopewell Valley Arts Council is looking for aMAZing Pumpkin Carvers! Artists, artisans and pumpkin enthusiasts are invited to apply for the second annual "aMAZing Pumpkin Carve", a fun, family-oriented attraction that will be open to the public on the grounds of the Howell Farm Corn Maze for two weekends: October 7-10 (Columbus Day) and October 14-16, 2016. The 2016 Carve will feature 50 giant pumpkins, carved by artisans selected by the HV Arts Council based on proven artistic skill and craftsmanship in some aspect of the arts, or through photos demonstrating pumpkin carving or other relevant skills. Selected carvers will receive a $250 honorarium. Consult the full Call for Artists and Participation Rules before submitting a Registration Form. Carver selections are ongoing so we encourage you to apply early. Registrations must be received by September 18, 2016 but may close earlier.

8/11 - Perseid Meteor Shower Watch Party, St. Michaels Farm Preserve, 11:30pm., The Perseid Meteor Shower occurs every year in mid-July and early August when the Earth passes through the stream of debris called the "Perseid Cloud," which consists of particles ejected by the comet Swift-Tuttle. Volunteers from Amateur Astronomers Association will set up telescopes to view the moon, Saturn, Mars and other night sky objects and provide meteor viewing assistance.
