Celebrate Black History Month at the Old Barracks Museum in Trenton on Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28 - Experience the living history of America's Black Warriors by the veterans themselves and dedicated re-enactors! View displays of photos, literature, and artifacts from wars past while talking to the storytellers of America's black men and women at war! While visiting the last remaining free-standing French and Indian War military barracks in North America in the capitol city of Trenton, you will meet with African American soldiers from almost every American War. Admission: $4-Adults, $2-Seniors/Students, Free-Children 6 and Under/Active Duty Military, $8-Family Rate. The Old Barracks Museum is located at 101 Barrack Street, Trenton, NJ right next to the State House. Parking is available in the small lot next to the museum, in the Capitol Complex, and in Trenton City Parking lots - the closest is located at 120 East Front Street. Screening of "Race to Nowhere" and "Beyond Measure", YingHua International School Feb 20 - Six years ago, RACE TO NOWHERE helped launch the national debate on the “one-size-fits-all achievement culture” in American schools and document the impact on students.” Now the follow-up, BEYOND MEASURE, shines a light on tenacious and cutting-edge alternatives to the stifling, high-pressure education system presented in its predecessor. The showings are open to the public and will take place on at YingHua International School, located in the Princeton Church of Christ, 33 River Rd, Princeton, NJ. Tickets are free but require advance registration. RACE TO NOWHERE will begin at 12:30PM with discussion following at 2:00PM. BEYOND MEASURE will begin at 2:30PM with discussion following at 4:00PM. Oscar-Nominated Short Film Festival, Feb. 25-27
See this year's Oscar-nominated short films in the run-up to the Academy Awards ceremony. Documentary short films will play on Thursday 2/25 at 6:30 pm and Friday 2/26 at 7:30 pm; Animated short films on Saturday 2/27 at 12:00 and 4:00 pm; and Live Action shorts on Saturday 2/27 at 1:50 pm. A special double feature of both Live Action and Animated Shorts with a reception during intermission will start at 6:00 pm on Saturday 2/27. All screenings are at the Mill Hill Playhouse in Trenton. Get ready, SCIENCE fans! The New Jersey State Museum is launching the SMASH Series: Spectacularly Merging Art, Science and History! An evolution of our popular Super Science event, the SMASH Series will offer four exciting events to explore the intersections of science, fine art and history throughout the Museum and in our daily lives. Visitors will discover topics in-depth through hands-on activities, experiments, demonstrations and shows, discussions with museum experts, family-friendly activities, and more! Most activities in NJSM’s SMASH Series are free with museum admission and will be offered 10 am—3 pm. First event will be March 19th, 2016 - Art and Engineering are beautifully entwined in sculpture, architecture and design. The SMASH series kicks off in conjunction with New Jersey Maker Day, so expect some “making” opportunities!

2/28 - 2nd Annual Sourland Semi-Classic, Sourland Cycles, 10am., In tribute to the second tier European classics, we present the Sourland Semi-Classic (SSC), an approximately 60-mile ride that explores the Sourland Region of Central New Jersey. It will offer a gentler way to prepare for the main spring events on some of the roads used by the Hell of Hunterdon.
