Mayor Neena Singh, Somerset County Commissioner Director Shanel Robinson and Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman share information with the audience.
In a continuation of programs focused on supporting health and wellness in the community, Montgomery hosted Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman for a Health and Wellness Resource Fair on May 29. The first two hours were an opportunity for residents to chat with agencies and local organizations about available services. The final hour was reserved for a town hall with the federal legislator, Somerset County Commissioner Director Shanel Robinson and Mayor Neena Singh.
"We covered a lot of ground this evening, providing our residents with connections to nonprofits and agencies that offer countless services," remarked Singh. "Our town hall was well attended and gave us the opportunity to share our needs directly with our member of Congress, requesting additional financial and programmatic resources for Montgomery."
Offices from federal, state and county agencies were on site to help residents troubleshoot any challenges, including navigating Medicare and veteran services. The Somerset County social services bus was made available to help transport seniors to the event as well.
"Our health department has been hard at work bringing more resources to the community each day," explained Health Officer Devangi Patel. "Today we got to showcase the full offering of programs available, while also sharing our residents' experiences with our legislator as we request more support from Washington for our local work."
