Enjoy Autumn Food and Festivities at NJ Local Farms
Griggstown Farm Market sells many items including seasonal Fruit pies, Chicken, Turkey, Beef, and Vegetarian Pot Pies, Shepherd’s Pie, Poultry Sausages, and fresh seasonal Soups, Chili, and Sauces.

Our region, set in the Garden State, is lucky to have so many farms that grow, harvest and raise delicious foods right in our own hometown. We’ve round up a few of our favorites for picking your own apples and pumpkins, enjoying cheese, sipping local wine & eating savory pies this autumn.

 

Terhune Orchards

    330 Cold Soil Rd, Princeton

Terhune Orchards is a 185-acre fruit and vegetable, family-owned farm in Princeton. The farm market, in a 150 year old barn, is open year round, 7 days a week. Apple picking, pumpkin picking, cider, pies, farm animals, pick your own, field trips, farm market, gift baskets and more can be found at the Mount Family’s 200 fruit- and vegetable-producing acres noted for quality products and country-style service. The farm also offers fresh pressed cider, pies, homemade baked goods, gift baskets and more can be found. Terhune Orchards is noted for quality products and country-style service.

 

Terhune Orchards Vineyard and Winery offers our own award-winning wine and events throughout the year. Terhune Orchards Farm Store attracts local people doing their daily shopping as well as visitors passing through the Princeton area.  The Farm Store and Farm Yard are open every day, all year round.

 

Enjoy Terhune Orchards’ Apple Harvest Days includes live music (from noon-4PM), apple food fare, wine tasting, pick-your-own pumpkins and apples, fun activities like pony rides, tractor-drawn wagon rides, pumpkin painting, pedal tractors, visit their barnyard of animals, duck races, discovery barn,  the Corn Stalk Maze, Hay Bale Maze and exploring the Farm Trail.

 

Cherry Grove Farm

    3200 Lawrenceville Rd, Lawrence

Cherry Grove Farm is a diversified, sustainable dairy farm and creamery situated on 480 acres of woodland, wetland and pasture in Lawrenceville, making award-winning farmstead cheeses from our grass-fed raw cows’ milk. Our cheeses are made in small batches and aged on the farm, with attention paid to the craft of artisanal cheesemaking. Each piece reflects the distinct flavors, aromas and seasonal variations of our unique terroir. Developed from classic European recipes, our cheeses are American originals.

 

Upcoming events including cheese classes like Mozzarella Stretch Burrata or Farmstead Cheese — and public pasture walks. Enjoy their cheese for sale online and at area locations. Cheeses include: Buttercup Brie, Full Nettle Jack, Havilah, Lawrencville Jack and Toma, to name a few. They also have pasture-raised eggs and meat — like whey-fed pork, grass-fed lamb, grass-fed beef, offal and heritage organic turkeys —  for sale.

 

Great Road Farm

    1459 Great Rd, Skillman, NJ

Great Road Farm makes its home on 112 acres of beautiful, preserved farm land in Skillman.  About half of these acres remain wild and wooded while the other half are split into fields.  2012 marked their first season beginning with 3.5 acres in vegetable crop production, and they now have over seven acres.

 

You can find them at Farmers Markets throughout the region including West Windsor Farmers Market (Saturdays until Thanksgiving) and Asbury Fresh Farmers Market (Sundays until November 19). You can find them around town in dishes at Agricola, The Dinky Bar & Kitchen and Cargot Brasserie.

 

Hun-Val Dairy Farm

    258 County Road 579, Rings

Hun-Val Dairy Farm breeds, raises, and milks quality Holstein and Brown Swiss dairy cows. They pride themselves in running a traditional, old-age dairy farm. The quality care of our animals and community involvement makes us one of a kind. You can visit their farm stand on-site for brown eggs, raw milk gourmet cheese, delicious and natural seasonal produce, and beautiful seasonal flowers.

 

 

Honey Brook Organic Farm     

     260 Wargo Rd, Pennington

Honey Brook Organic Farm is the oldest and largest certified organic fruit, herb, vegetable and flower Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm in the Garden State. Since 1991, farmer Jim Kinsel and his staff have consistently produced the finest quality, best tasting produce available anywhere.

 

Farmland Honey Brook manages is certified organic, which means their fields and growing practices meet strict federal standards. Their CSA program is one of the largest in the nation with over 3,000 memberships, providing seasonal, locally grown organic produce to over 3,500 individuals.

 

Visit the farm every Friday morning for their Friday Morning Mini Market from 9AM-1PM.

 

 

Stults Farm

     146 Cranbury Neck Rd, Plainsboro Township

 

Stults Farm is 200 acres of beautifully maintained preserved farmland. A family farm since 1915, the Stults Family owns, manages and are the work force on the farm. The main source of income is by direct market selling of their fruits and vegetables though "Pick Your Own" and their Farmstand.

 

The farmstead is open May through October, with Pick-Your-Own the month of October with pumpkins at $.50/lb. In October you can also find gourds, winter squash, asian pears, apples, broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage at the Farm Stand.

 

 

Locust Light Farm  Titusville, NJ

    67 Pleasant Valley Rd, Titusville, NJ

 

Locust Light Farm is a medicinal and culinary herb farm in Titusville that focuses on growing and using organic practices and harvesting herbs by hand at their highest level of potency. Herbs are dried with care and are processed into herbal products.

 

The farm strives to empower individuals in their wellness journeys. Through their onsite farm classes, online classes, as well as their handcrafted products, the farm seeks to connect people directly to the plants. They use methods that promote soil and plant health and ecosystem sustainability and do not use synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. They pick all herbs with care, by hand, and process them the same way.

 

Locust Light Farm offers a variety of classes at the farm, including an upcoming 7-class course that will take students on a journey of flavor and medicine, learning techniques for making bevs, the medicine of flavor, and the healing qualities of herbs.  The class will cover the medicine of the 10 tastes, healing properties of 30+ herbs and craft liqueurs, syrups, decoctions, oxymels, shrubs, and so much more. Griggstown Farm  Princeton, NJ

    484 Bunker Hill Rd, Princeton, NJ

The Griggstown Quail farm began in 1975 raising chicken, quail and pheasant for sale to restaurants. In 2002 a market with a USDA kitchen was opened on the farm to sell poultry and prepared food to the public. As a result Griggstown continues to enhance their offerings to include their famous pot pies (like chicken, turkey, beef, vegetarian and shepherd’s pie); fruit pies, soups (like Lentil Bean, Chicken Vegetable with Orzo, French Onion, Minestrone, Potato Leek, Wild Mushroom, Tomato and Butternut Squash, to name a few). and many other quality foods for health oriented people. You can find Griggstown’s products at quality food stores and restaurants in the New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvanian area.

 

For Thanksgiving Griggstown raises hundreds of turkeys, as well as ducks and geese, for sale at the farm market. During the summer their products can be purchased at one of the many farmers markets throughout the New Jersey area.
