The author discusses her recently released memoir "The Wreck: A Daughter's Memoir of Becoming a Mother." Doors open at 10:45 a.m. for coffee and pastries. The talk begins at 11 a.m. Jackson is also a co-author of "The Toni Morrison Book Club." This is a hybrid event, offered both in-person and virtually on the library's YouTube channel.

New Yacht City performs smooth "yacht rock" from the '70s and '80s on Hinds Plaza to kick off the 2023 Summer Listen Local Series.

Enjoy some smooth yacht rock from the '70s and '80s featuring the music of Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Toto and more favorites of the era. New Yacht City is a full band that includes keys and a horn section. Band Members include Manish Nag (keys and vocals), Ed Cipriano (guitar), David Reinecke (guitar), Cary Beckwith (bass), Kenny Feldman (trumpet), Jason Philips (sax), Ross Hariss (alto sax) Megan McCafferty (vocals) and Nadir Jeevanjee (percussion).

The concert will be in the Community Room in the event of rain.
