Mercer County Library System Virtual and In-Person Events for January 2022

MCLS' library branches are open to the public. We will continue to offer virtual programming, as well as some in-person indoor and outdoor events (at a limited capacity) at our branches. Please refer to MCLS' online event calendar for our recurring programs for all ages, ranging from storytimes to book clubs, from craft times to knitting groups and from clubs for kids to adult discussion groups! Patrons may check the MCLS' website for COVID-19 guidelines in place for indoor and outdoor events.

Benefits of Massage Therapy

Thursday, January 13, 10:30 am

In addition to providing relaxation from daily stress, massage has many benefits beyond the spa. Learn how massage is applied to treat neuromuscular dysfunction; support the immune system; allay anxiety and soothe mood disorders; and other applications. This brief presentation will explain how massage therapy is appropriate for many conditions; how to prepare and what to expect from a massage therapist; and how to maximize the benefits of massage therapy. Presented by Cynthia Sinicropi-Philibosian, LMBT practicing since 1982. This program is part of Penn Medicine Princeton Health's Community Wellness Program.

Plant-based Diets Save Hearts and Homes: Small Actions, Big Changes

The effects of eating more plant-based foods far exceed the well-known nutritional benefits on one's health. Research shows that eating a more plant-based diet can also lower carbon footprint and global warming. The aim of this session is to discuss why and how we can eat more plant-based foods.

Avoiding Securities Fraud

Arlene Ferris-Waks, Director of Investor Education, NJ Bureau of Securities, Office of NJ Attorney General, provides information to make investors pro-active financial consumers. Avoiding Securities Fraud includes an overview of the various types of investment scams and teaches investors to recognize the red flags of investment fraud. A Q&A period will follow the formal presentation.
