3rd New Jersey Regiment’s Spring Drill, Washington Crossing State Park NJ
The 3rd New Jersey Regiment (A reenactment group, portraying a Revolutionary War unit) will be encamped next to the Visitor Center Museum at Washington Crossing State Park, New Jersey, on Saturday, March 26 & Sunday, March 27. The 3rd New Jersey will be portraying an “on the march” camp and will be drilling in preparation for action against his majesty’s troops. Musket Demos, a children’s drill, cooking and 18th century camp life during the Revolutionary War will be interpreted. 11AM - Drill/movement/marching without arms. 11:30 AM – Musket Firing - 2 members are detached to provide a musket firing demo. 12 PM – Children’s Drill - 2 members are detached to run children's drill. 12:30 PM - Nooning/lunch 1 PM - Musket Drill. (Proper movement/orientation/loading and firing procedures/bayonet drill) 2:30 PM - Unit will demonstrate firing in formation. The Visitor Center Museum will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. featuring The Swan Historical Foundation’s Collection of 500+ Colonial and Revolutionary War artifacts. The Visitor Center Museum can be reached from I-95 by taking the Trenton/Lambertville Exit (this is the first exit in N.J. heading north and the last exit heading south). Head north on Route 29 for 2 ½ miles and turn right at the first traffic light. Park Entrance will be on your left in a ½ mile. Enter the park and follow the signs to the Visitor Center Museum.
