Weekend Walks, D&R Canal State Park, Kingston Canal House

8 Old Lincoln Highway, Princeton, 609-924-5705. Kingston to Rocky Hill with a stop at Rockingham – 4.2 Miles.
Join the "Weekend Walkers" series of hikes along the canal towpath and nearby areas. Each section of the canal has a unique character and history that is highlighted by a trail interpreter.These round-trip weekend walks will be moderately paced and last about 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Children are welcome but those under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Register via EventBrite. Free.
Re-enactment of 1781 Encampment in Trenton, Trent House Museum

The Trent House Association presents the fourth annual re-enactment of the days in late August/early September 1781 when thousands of soldiers and support personnel camped in and around Trenton. This free program of activities and talks is on Saturday, August 24, 2023, from 10 am to 4 pm on the Trent House Museum grounds at 15 Market Street, Trenton, across from the Hughes Justice Complex. Free parking is available at the rear of the Museum property.

Fiddlin' on the Farm, Howell Living History Farm

Now in its 36th year, the contest is the largest and longest-running traditional fiddle contest in New Jersey. Visitors can expect to find fiddlers, guitarists, mandolinists, and more perched on porches, tucked under trees, and spread out on the lawn playing traditional folk and bluegrass music and sharing the stories of their historic instruments.
