Annual Wheat & Sheep Day, Washington Crossing Historic Park

Explore life on a colonial-era farmstead at Washington Crossing Historic Park’s “Wheat & Sheep Day,” being held on Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park’s Thompson-Neely House & Farmstead.

During this event, attendees will see sheep being shorn of their winter wool coats and then follow the process of washing and carding the wool and spinning it into yarn. Children will receive a take-home activity kit filled with colonial crafts. Tours will also be given of the restored Thompson-Neeley Grist Mill. Shearings will be held on the hour starting at 10 a.m. and mill tours on the half hour from 11:30 to 2:30.

Attendance is limited to 150 people and registration is required for this pay-what-you-wish event (recommended fee is $7). Register at: WashingtonCrossingPark.org/events.
