The Old Barracks Museum Receives TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence

Trenton, NJ – May 23, 2019 – The Old Barracks Museum in Trenton, NJ has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence. The achievement celebrates businesses that are consistently excellent – having earned great traveler reviews on TripAdvisor by delivering a quality customer experience over the past year.

Visitors to the Old Barracks Museum are introduced to the Colonial and Revolutionary History of Trenton, New Jersey, and America. The barracks were built in 1758 to house British soldiers during the French and Indian War. Following the Battle of Trenton on December 26, 1776, George Washington converted the barracks into a military hospital specializing in smallpox inoculations. The Museum is open Monday – Saturday, year-round, to provide tours to visitors from all around the world. Groups of 15 or more can schedule a first-person tour that brings their group into the past. Over a dozen special events bring 250 years of history to life, including the annual Tavern Night Fundraiser in September and Trenton's Patriots Week celebration in December. The Certificate of Excellence accounts for the quality, quantity and recency of reviews submitted by travelers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.


ABOUT THE OLD BARRACKS MUSEUM: The Old Barracks Museum preserves the history of a building constructed as a French and Indian War military barracks and used as a Revolutionary War hospital. It also stood witness to Washington's crucial victory at the Battle of Trenton. At the beginning of the 20th century, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames organized The Old Barracks Association and spearheaded a campaign to purchase the building. The building has been a museum for over a century, and has frequently been used as a symbol for the state of New Jersey. The Old Barracks Museum welcomes visitors from across the state as well as around the world.
The Old Barracks Museum is located at 101 Barrack Street, Trenton, NJ. Free parking is available in the Capitol Complex Parking Garage. Metered parking is also available near the museum.
