Toll Gate PTO Minutes – February 1, 2006

Present: Myra Bugbee, Kathy Green, Victoria Myer, Chris Murphy, Lynne Quinto, Pam Taylor, Ned Fletcher, Lee Hermann, Chris McDonough, Sandee Steinberg.

Victoria Myer called the meeting to order at 9:05 am at her home.

Treasurer’s Report

Auction: Chris Murphy reported that the final net profit figure for the auction is $34,700.  The original figure was overstated by $1,200 - one deposit was overstated by $1,000 due to a keying error, and another by $200.  Chris has checked and confirmed all checks deposited.  Gross income was about $40,700, with expenses of about $5,900.

Bookkeeping: Everything is being done in QuickBooks now, except for the “zero accounts” which are still tracked in Excel.  Murphy is still deciding how to handle these.

Presentations

On February 27 at 7:00pm Dr. Madhurani Khare, board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, will offer a presentation on children and stress.  Included will be time for questions and answers.  Dr. Khare is affiliated with the Princeton HealthCare System.

As change can be stressful, Myra Bugbee is trying to arrange a May program for the fifth graders and their parents, possibly including former TGG students.  Will cover managing the transition from elementary to middle school and life skills.

Committees

Nominating Committee:  A nominating committee is needed to fill open board positions and committee chairs for the 2006 – 2007 school year.  Per the TGG bylaws, the committee is made up of two members from the executive committee and three members from the general membership.  Myer and Green agreed to serve on the committee from the exec. comm.  Lee Hermann will also serve on the committee.

Calendar Committee: Bugbee needs a parent volunteer for the district’s Calendar Committee.  There are three meetings in February.  Sandee Steinberg volunteered to do this.

Gift Wrap

Consensus was to run next year’s gift wrap sale with a similar time frame to this year’s sale.  Lynne Quinto will suggest dates and contact the Sally Foster sales rep.

Book Fair

The book fair is usually around Halloween.  Suggestions were made that it could be tied into a family night, or scheduled around conference time.  Once the calendar is set, Bugbee and Green will pick a time.

This concluded the business portion of the meeting.  Presentation was made by PEI Kids staff on “No More Bullies, No More Victims.”  This is a bullying prevention program of the New Jersey Child Assault Prevention Project.  The workshop has components for children, parents, and teachers and staff.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Lynne Quinto, PTO Secretary.
