Wish List

Each fall the PTO may grant a Wish List of items to the school. All teachers and administrators may submit items to the Wish List, which is compiled by the school principal for presentation to the General Membership at a general PTO meeting held no later than October 31st of the school year. The Wish List is voted on by the General Membership at the meeting following its presentation, and is printed in the PTO Newsletter prior to the vote. A majority vote is required to fund the Wish List.

In unusual circumstances, such as an unforeseen opportunity to purchase something of general benefit to the school, at the discretion of the PTO Executive Board, a Wish List may be compiled, presented, and voted upon by the general membership at a later date in the school year, however it must be presented to the general membership prior to the day of the vote.

All items funded via the Wish List must be purchased no later than May 31st of the school year unless special permission is granted by the PTO Executive Board for a purchase beyond this date.

As each item is to be purchased, the appropriate teacher or administrator must contact the PTO Treasurer and request a check to cover the cost of the purchase. The check will be made payable to either the teacher making the request or directly to the supplier, as requested by the Wish List recipient. Once a purchase is made, a copy of the receipt must be forwarded to the PTO Treasurer.

If an actual purchase costs less than was funded, all unused money is to be returned by the teacher or administrator to the PTO Treasurer, who will return the funds to the PTO general fund.

All Wish List items purchased and not consumed remain the property of Toll Gate Grammar School, and must remain with the school should the teacher or administrator leave.

Annually, the PTO Executive Board will set a cap for the Wish List. The cap is determined prior to the start of the school year, but may be renegotiated by the PTO Executive Board and the school principal prior the presentation of the Wish List to the General Membership.
