(I know this is all wrong, so would someone fill me in on the real details? - TBC) For many years a certain hang glider pilot had his eye on the hangar at Redwing airport. It was rented out at the time, but Redwing's low traffic and long grass strips held great potential for an aerotow hang gliding operation. At long last, the hangar became available in the spring of 1997 and our intrepid pilot snapped it up. Not long after that a couple other folks located an early model of the now standard Moyes ultralight tow plane. Several pilots combined their resources to acquire the aircraft and restore it to full airworthiness. The rest of the pieces began to fall into place quickly. Other pilots joined in, and a loose organization was formed, all purely for the purpose of flight, not profit. Today, the club boasts six partners who fly and maintain the tug, and nearly a dozen associate members who pay the hangar rent. Everyone lends a hand where they can to share the work. And everyone gets to fly! |
