Trenton Circus Squad and Cooper's Ferry Partnership are Bringing the Circus Back to Camden

TRENTON, NJ (April 26, 2019)  Cooper's Ferry Partnership was awarded a Challenge America Grant of $10,000 by The National Endowment for the Arts to host the Trenton Circus Squad, in a big top on the Camden Waterfront.  Trenton Circus Squad will be facilitating a week of free youth-led circus skills workshops and performances for Camden youth and families.

Trenton Circus Squad inspires young people to take big leaps in life. Youth from inner-city Trenton, Camden and surrounding suburbs learn how to cooperate, push themselves and serve their community – all through the amazing but challenging practice of circus arts.  Trenton Circus Squad will spend this week long residency, July 29 through July 4 at Cooper's Poynt Waterfront Park, 801 Delaware Avenue, Camden, NJ, teaching teens how to take big leaps in life through learning, teaching and performing circus skills under a Big Top tent.  Performances are free for all the family.

Looking forward to returning to the city of Camden, furthering our commitment to building community. ~Tom von Oehsen, Executive Director

Challenge America grants support projects that extend the reach of the arts to under-served populations — those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability.  Big Top at Camden Waterfront is powered by Connect the Lots, a collaboration between Cooper's Ferry Partnership and the City of Camden which sponsors a variety of fun outdoor activities designed to engage residents and activate parks and underutilized spaces in neighborhoods throughout the City of Camden.  It is supported by Camden County and private donations.
