STEVENSON HALL HHH HASH # 96 Date: June 1, 1986 Weather: 90+ Set by: Josh Weinstein, Eric Levin Runners: Jeff Warwick, Dave Eff ross, MJ, MJ, III, Bob Pascal, Ned Jackson, Evy Parker, Andy Kaufman, Stu Sharp "First to Cooler' Joe Burns, Pascal, MJ,III...... Description, comments: This hash of long hot asphalt straights was perfect for the Louisiana Reptile Fancier, and it's no surprise that "I run with snakes" was first to the cooler, just behind the aethereal Joe Burns. The start was at Stevenson Hall and at the first fork the pack lost the geezer who guessed wrong for the third hash in a row and went left (hardly a surprise for this knee jerk com-symp) when everyone else went right with the times. The trail ran past Palmer, past Fine, across Washington Road, through playing fields to the Dinky station, up University Place to a through-town section that ultimately led to the rear of St. Paul's church where a huge "ON IN" was found. Jaccson and MJ III spent a lot of time with the green pants set searching the golf course to no avail for the bridge Josh had set as a water stop. Meanwhile the rest of the pack was panting and trying to keep up with the LRF. The "ON IN" was actually found by the geezer who had circumnavigated the town, given up and then found marks. He assumed the hash was over and dimwittedly sat down to await the pack, which ultimately trickled in. After much ineffective searching of trash bins by Kaufman, Effross and Sharp they finally were off again and as it dawned on their heat-dimmed collective consciousness that no cooler was likely to appear out of thin air. Through streets to the rejuvenated shopping center, then through the woods and lanes behind it to emerge at the now nearly ubiquitous (see #91,94) All Saint's church. At the end of Terhune road Pascal and MJ,III followed the trail into thickets and gorse to emerge at the foot of Eric Levin's house, where the cooler was mercifully found. All in all a good effort by Weinstein/Levin despite the grousing about the premature "ON IN". Next Hashes #97 2:00 pm Sunday, June, 8th, Andy Kaufman sets the Reunion Hash. He promises no straights longer than 25 feet. #98 3:30 pm (Note start of summer time) Sunday, June 15, Stu Sharp sets, promising nothing. 1
