STEVENSON HALL HHH HASH #84 Date: March 2, 1986 Weather: 40's, clouds Set by: Bob (I run with snakes) Pascal Runners: Burns, Wachspress, MJ, Jackson, Evy, Effross, Jenifer Moore, Susan Hockaday, Rookies Don Miller and Ned Cornman "First to Cooler" Wachspress Description, comments: "A maze of twisty little passages all looking alike" How true. THis was a development/woods hash made for masochistic runners. Despite "I run with snakes" claim that there were lots of false trails what this hash really had was lots of loooong straights and look-alike development streets. It began in some Levittown in East Windsor and wound in and out of the adjacent woods in a series of huge loops. Thus there was ample opportunity for the pack to cut off large sections of the trail had they been alert enough (or in Wachspress' case, smart enough) to do so. It was Dan (I run into living rooms) Wachspress who provided the best moments. Early on he did cut off a huge section, but lacking conviction (some would say simple smarts) he found his way back to the pack and then bushwacked with them for 3/4 mile back to the marks he had already found. Later, ahead once more, he suffered a flash of inspiration that the run must be over and burst into some poor homeowner's living room and demanded beer from the terrified family. Not believing their pathetic denials he continued to insist and was not dissuaded until the pack appeared. Why the family failed to call the cops or Ray the Guard to remove the obviously crazed intruder one can only guess. But heaven sometimes rewards the demented and it was Wachspress who took the last real trail and found the cooler, mercifully stocked with the real item this time..
