                                   Stop The Madness!


        Oh come on WeePee, Toxic Waste used up the long false at the start
ploy about ten years ago. Puh-leeze. I mean really. Well, whatever. Y'know.
I mean - I mean, well, I mean - uh. Really. Go sit on the Group W Bench for
a while and cogitate on the question of whether you are moral enough to set
a hash.
        Achtung! Achtung! Ausweis bitte. So, you haf a Radio, du
Scheisskerl. So. We have our ways, you know. You and I are civilized men -
we both know that. We can, of course, reach a sensible accommodation that
will leave you with many of your body parts intact. But if you continue to
refuse to talk, I must unleash Herr Müller und Herr Dr. Schmidt and they
have their own "personal" ways, as we both know. And not so nice, are they?
Please do not make me do this. It is all up to you, of course.
        ENOUGH OF THESE MAD RAVINGS! What is this - a hash writeup or what?
Yes, of course we must get back to basics. Pull up our socks. Stay the
course. Right the Ship. Naturally. We are all civilized. ENOUGH OF THESE
MAD RAVINGS!  ENOUGH OF THESE MAD RAVINGS!  ENOUGH OF THESE MAD RAVINGS!
        OuiPui sets again in the floodplain. We are told that Cooperative
Effort is necessary to traverse the great Waterways of the FloodPlein.
Madness! Lies! Back to the Group W Bench, you miserable Klodzak! ENOUGH OF
THESE CRAZED RAVINGS!  Please.
Whatever.
        WheePhee says, take three banana steps into the murk. And that we
did, just ask Tropical Suppression. WheePhee says, take sixty-seven
armadillo steps over the hanging bridge. And that we did not.
        ENOUGH OF THESE CRAZED, MAD RAVINGS!

        Einstein asks, what are these crazed mad ravers doing in my

        And now we enter into that most sacred part of the Hashyear, the
High Holy Days of February. And what might they be, I hear you ask.


Hash of the Tibetan New Year, in memory of the 13th Delay LLLama

This year this hash coincides with our Annual G Hash. Who or what was G,
you ask?  I must take a moment to tell you the story of Alberto Stephano
Ignatius Gispert, "G", one of the founders of the Mother Hash in KL:


        Born Alberto Stephano Ignatius Gispert to Spanish Catalan parents
in London in 1903, he later Anglicized his name to Albert Stephen Ignatius
Gispert and became known as "G". He was a chartered accountant with Evatt &
Co, and was posted to Malacca in 1937 where he joined a club called the
Springgit Harriers who operated weekly under "hash" rules and are believed
to have been formed in 1935. Actually, the idea of Harriers chasing marks
was not new in Malaya in the late '30s. Frederick "Horse" Thomson first
became involved with paperchases in Johore Bahru in 1932 and the Kinta
Harriers were active in Ipoh at the time. Some time between September and
December 1938 G was among those (Thomson, G, Cecil Lee, "Torch" Bennett,
Eric Galvin, H. M. Doig) who founded the original club in Kuala Lumpur. Of
course, the war soon interrupted runs until 1946.


        In December of 1941, Gispert rushed back from leave in Australia to
join the forces in Singapore, only to be killed in Dairy Farm Road, early
on February 11, 1942. I quote from the history of the Argyle and Sutherland
Highlanders: Chap. XI, p. 111, "About 0400 hours (11 Feb) a considerable
force of Japanese from track junction 751150 moved up the track for 200
yards to within ten yards of Battalion HQ and halted. They surprised and
silently caught Captain Gispert, the mortar officer, and three men, and
killed them."
