                      The Triple Crown of Debacles... lost by a nose!
     


After sweeping the Duke Island Debacle and the South Brunswick Snow Cup, Solo was the 3-1 
favorite to set what was hailed as the first Triple Crown of Debacles in PHHH history.  
Our hare looked fit as he jogged to the post, flour-dusted and chomping at the bit, 
declaring that he had been setting all day.  The hounds, not to be intimidated, were out 
of the gate at the first cry of "on on!".  They galloped on in full force, racing through 
the marks.  Even the endless loop of life and the reappearance of last winter's pink flour 
in the homestretch wasn't enough to slow this pack.  As they rounded the last turn into 
the on in en masse after only an hour, and with no one interminably lost, it became 
evident that this field was too strong for our hare.  What happened to those memorable 
Solo summer hashes ending in darkness, tasting flour dots in the moonlight to distinguish 
them from bird droppings?  What of the mass confusion, the finish to be found only with 
the aid of a private "hare guided tour"?  What a disappointment... this hash can't even 
provide a debacle when it tries.
