PRINCETON HHH HASH #681.4 Date: October 3, 1998 Weather: Soggy, soggy, soggy Venue: Transcontinental Pipeline Set By: Discomfort Hashers: Throat Deep, Juicy au Jus, Table Toes, LRF, Hey Yo! Paully!, Delay LLLama Descriptions, Polemics, and Lies: The Disappearance of the Fair Weather Hashers After a summer of well stocked hashes, with a Cecil B. de Mille-like cast of thousands of half-brains each week (well at least dozens - or at least enough that required Pyro to take off his shoes to count - luckily we never had more than 20 hashers though), the first gray, wet, wet, wet day of autumn brought out only a small, stalwart warren of hashers to slog through Discomfort's virgin Princeton HHH-set. Where were the fair weather hashers of days of yore? Perhaps still recovering from the heat and humidity of Rojo's set the previous week. Perhaps they decided to stay in B-U-T-ful Bucks County in hopes of having their toenails painted during Zaire's next visit to Rojo. Perhaps the absence of humidity caused them to actually use the other half of their brain and get a life. Nonetheless, this small band of few, this band of brothers, if you will, set out this St. Crispins' Day to slip and slide through the woods north of Princeton. Seeing as the local terrain did not offer the Cypressian cliffs or crowns of thorns of her native land, Discomfort was forced to set a trail through woods and backyards and that instead used the transcontinental gas pipeline (which may or may not cross the continent - or even New Jersey for all we know) as the focal point of an over and back and back and back and back again set. The trail tactfully skirted hunting territory (it's deer season again folks - remember - it's better to blend into the countryside by wearing brown clothes that have a smallpatch of white on them. Wearing Orange will only attract the hunters to you, better to blend in like the deer) and local rifle ranges for our local jack-booted thugs. In spite of the deluge-like conditions, that caused only a modicum of whining at the start ("ohhh, it's raining" - "It's kinda damp out here") - only to increase in frequency and intensity as the hash continued ("Now I'm really wet" - "My shoes and socks are wet" - "I'm melting" - "I'm cold and wet and juicy") most marks were still visible. Several False trails allowed the hare to laugh amongst herself, as she accompanied the half-brains along their wet route. A brief regroup at an abandoned house in the midst of the woods provided a short respite from the rain. Given the dearth of hashers, Paully was forced to run with the hashers - on the trail - not the roads, much to his chagrin. In fact Paully actually ran more clothed than not - albeit in his softball/altarboy/Sunday church going uniform. I guess in the church of Paully, cleanliness may not be next to godliness. After crossing the pipeline another half-dozen times, the hashers arrived at Discomfort's car alongside the road - only to have to run another 1/4 mile, 3/8 at the most to the canal path parking area on Rt. 27 near the Winepress - where beer was served. Fitting to the weather, the apres was well stocked with Goldfish. At the on, Lllama made noise about having a Hash Bash on Hash Cash at Good Friends after the Oct 11 hash - "Either that or I'm embezzling the hash cash to pay for my move to California - land of the blondes!!" Said the Lllama. -- Keep posted for more info.
