PRINCETON HHH HASH #616.4 Date: July 16, 1997 Weather: Waist Deep Venue: Quakerbridge Time: 1:30 Set By: Pyro Man Hashers: A Joy to His Mother, Wacko, Wrong Way, Ro Jo, Wendy Sullivan, Andrew Vaughn, Ice Blue Balls (with Tree and Darby), Table Toes, Dave Grosfeld, In Up to His Waist (DNF) Descriptions, Polemics, and Lies: The World Turned Upside Down If in doubt, follow the stream. He wasn't kidding. Just ask Table Toes, he was there. A quick jaunt from Mrs. G's to the canal, along the towpath, and then a single arrow. We all know what single arrows mean, don't we kids? Pyro practically gave us a final exam on his nefarious marking method while we were itching to start. All we were missing were slides, or perhaps 8 by 10 color glossy photographs with circles and arrows (get it?) and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was. So the hounds saw this single arrow. Having been given the blatant hint that a single arrow is undoubtedly false, nearly the whole pack wimped out and headed for the asphalt. What is this, a LLLama hash? You should know better than that by now. As if to rub it in (or confirm the hounds' belief that the arrow led nowhere), A Joy to His Mother and Table Toes followed the darn thing. This bizarre move would be a harbinger of things to come. It was as if the Gods of Hashing had decreed that this day, everything would be reversed. Time after time, Joy and Table Toes found (and followed) the true trail, come hell *and* high water. The other hounds, Euclidean Hasher-like, took the long way (but not the Wrong Way) every time. Joy and Toes were lost on the trail, a hashing paradox if there ever was one. Two long stream wades, excellent foot-sucking mud, and some toxic dog-eating green stuff (that last on the right true trail, not to be confused with the left true trail, and don't worry, the dog came out OK in the end) later, the hash was over, and only two stupid hounds had ever seen a mark. Go figure.
