					The lame, the halt....

Description, polemics, comments and lies: Safe Sweats showed up proudly 
displaying a knee ripe for the knife. “They’re going to scope it next week, so I figured I’d 
run some today” opined SS, “I was driving down Route 1 and saw this sign, “Knees R 
Us; Surgery While-U-Wait” and so I signed right up. They are going to do what they call 
a “cut and run” job. I get out the same day.” It says something that nobody expressed 
surprise. Kneed we say more? 

So, one day soon you can expect to see the Sweatmobile back on the road, piloted by 
a semi-anesthetized, recently chopped Safe Sweats. But don’t worry. Your Beloved 
Scribe will keep track and try to issue an alert. 

Actually there may have been one sympathetic person there. Sarah had shown up 
fresh from kicking around her roommates and “breaking her toe.” We immediately put in 
a call for the legendary Toejo, previously the holder of the PH3’s prestigious “Most 
Valuable Digit” award - indeed she was quite attached to it. But alas, she was nowhere 
to be found. Nor was Little Fragile Broken Bone on the scene, so it was off to the 
hashing trails for these two maimed folks without benefit of either digital or analog 
advice.

The LRF had been imperfectly roused from his early torpor and had spent Sunday 
morning floundering in and around Stony Brook scattering flour more or less at random. 
The law-abiding one’s imperfect scouting and well-known aversion for private property 
led to an unusual number of sharp hairpins on this effort. Nonetheless, we persevered 
through fields of thornbush, banks of nettles, and a raccoon necropolis to the eventual 
end at ETS. Good beer. Good salsa.
