Montessouri Romp The evening waned cool and clear as Wacko pulled into the Montessouri School's expanding parking lot. The eager set of hapless hounds sat captive in the belly of the Big Blue Van, noses pressed to the glass, worried at what lay ahead. Wacko had set the perfect sixty-minute evening hash. It contained construction, mud, woods, road-running, and private property, all rolled into a neat little boring package of precisely an hour's duration, and all within screaming distance of the start. Too bad we messed it up by running it in one hour and ten. All went as expected: the lack of any prehash comments, the initial flailing in construction site mud, the lush ground cover of shiny, three-leaved plants obscuring the blanket of rocks and decaying logs within the woods. The setter was sighted often, and shepherded his flock away from interesting views and logical pathways. All in all it was only slightly less boring than this hashletter. RoJo led the way into a flower-filled meadow with a great view that Wacko had to drag us out of because it had nothing to do with the hash. I hear that this field was close to, if not part of, the mythical Weinstein Hash of legend and song. Sarah Smith uncovered the fossilized skull of some unfortunate ancient hasher. Ah, now those were the days of *real* hashes. Predictably, the trail wound back to the Big Blue Van, where keys were eventually found and moderate consumption was had by all. A truly pleasant Wednesday evening.
