PRINCETON HHH Hash #449.4 DATE: Sunday March 20, 1994 SET BY: Wacko HASHERS: LFBB, LRF, Rojo, Delay Lllama, In Up To His Waist, Knee Deep in Brown Stuff, TFM, Hands Job, Madam, Dan Vogl, Guy "Dog Food" WEATHER: Practically perfect in every way VENUE: Wacko's condo in Cranbury, behind Martin Marietta, to the driving range and out to Old Trenton Road. M-U-U-D-D-Y! Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more muddy and wreak worse than 11 sweaty hashers; Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, (and most obviously the brains of this sorry lot, which once again ventures forth in search of warm beer and stale chips). -William Shakespeare on Hashing Once again, the scurvy lot of 11 misfits gathered behind Stevenson Hall, dressed in their "sunday best" to waste a beautiful, sunny spring day chasing marks of flour through the woods. The Geezer, our Guru of all Guru's and seer of all things, was not amongst us, having faked an injury last week so he would spare himself the utter boredom of a Wacko hash. Also not with us were several regulars who did not return from spring break in time, although Dan and TFM did attend, TFM bringing with him Chris's hat as a tribute to the poor misguided undergrad who used the lame excuse of rowing practice to avoid his much more important hashing obligations. After many false displays of kindness the hashers were off. The infamous blue van departed and stealthily sped toward a totally unpredictable and totally un-boring Hightstown hash (NOT!). Knee Deep in Brown Stuff, who met us at the start, showed her true manners and poor hashing form by arriving well before everyone and Not looking for marks. After a few brief comments we set off with the novice hashers leading the way and the veteran hashers falling back to see if the novice hashers did indeed have any idea where the heck they were going. Through bramble, briar, across the road and into the woods, Rojo and the LFBB led the way using their superior blood hound devices. The hounds pressed on, led by a veteran LRF into an open field where they searched seemingly for hours until the veteran LRF found the hidden mark (right where Rojo was searching) and placed us back on the track. Through muddy, sewage infested fields, past blood-thirsty hasher-eating watch dogs, the runners trod (some much faster than others!) They were greeted by the hare who emerged at the half-way point, only to raise false hopes in the hounds that there was actually no more mud on the second half of the hash (never trust the setter). Some more mud, fences and smelly woods ensued. The trail wound its way behind Martin Marietta where they dump all the radioactive, brain damage-causing space sludge brought back by the shuttle, the effect of which was immediately seen on those veteran hashers who still always check for marks uphill when everyone else is running in the opposite direction. Finally, the hares reached the end (or so it seemed) as they crossed the road and over to the driving range, but once again, the hare had fooled them. "On-on down the road and you'll see the next mark!" he did beckon. Demanding beer and yelling statements of affection toward the setter's mother, the disgruntled hounds continued down the road and once again into the woods, following a very predictable trail out to Old Trenton Road where, (you guessed it) once again, the hare met them, only THIS time to lead them toward their day's pursuit... stale chips, warm beer, only one jar of salsa, and the last ten minutes of the NCAA playoffs on the radio. Obviously a day well spent! The runners faced many perils, thus forcing them to display many talents which make this sport what it is: 1) Hands Job and Guy - how to accelerate from 0 to 60 in .35 seconds when being chased by a pit bull 2) Delay Lllama - how NOT to climb over a barbed wire fence 3) LFBB - how far behind trying to short cut can actually put you NEXT HASHES: C.D.I.
