PRINCETON HHH Hash #426.4 DATE: Sunday September 19, 1993 SET BY: Geezer HASHERS: LRF, RoJo, Solo, Wacko, Rodney , Pushnermaybe , Dan 'Pushner's Friend' , LFBB , Alan Drummond VISITOR: Dr. No , Throat Warbler WEATHER: Madam-like VENUE: Terhune's Orchard to Twin Pines Airport Crime Doesn't Pay It was nostalgia week at the Princeton HHH, what with the return of a bearded Dr. No and a somnambulant Throat-Warbler Mangrove as well as last year's most promising undergraduate newcomer, Alan "I'm Going To Be Named Soon" Drummond. Not to disappoint these old-timers the Princeton HHH supplied the classic whining Geezer. "I set it yesterday so 60% of the marks will be washed away by the rain." "I got lost in the middle and it might be confusing." "Turn left at the Doberman and the gunfire". If that weren't enough to thoroughly disgust the pack, imagine our regurgitation when the Geezer began at Terhune's Orchard rationalizing this in his noisome discourse about us paying for our crimes. The last time we started at this location was all the way back at Hash 417.4, the Geezer's last set about a month ago, or should we say, "non"- set as 90% of the marks on that one were washed out. His revenge, an immediate 10 mark false trail without a check mark, only managed to suck in Dr. No. This was the only redeeming quality of the whole affair. No was clearly feeling the 13.1 miles of the Phillie Half Marathon he ran in the morning as he labored his way back to the pack. The first half hour of this hash was so BORING it was beyond belief. The Geezer rehashed Hash 400.7 (another of his own sets) in reverse mark by obliterated mark. Since Wacko & Ro Jo were the only hounds present who were also on that hash, it fell to them to remind the Geezer of how BORING he was being, and since Ro Jo is too polite to do this it was up to Wacko to double his efforts making sure the Geezer realized how BORING it was... (even more BORING than this newsletter!) However, once we passed the point of gunfire it became clear that the Geezer had begun to run for his life, and the hash spiced up a little. First came the 50 yards of flesh-eating sumac - it's always a joy to hear the LRF's groaning in dismay. Pushnermaybe, his friend Dan, and LFBB did the only sensible thing and ran around the sumac, and of course were never heard from again. I take that back, actually, because we could hear their plaintive cries of "Are You?!" occasionally but always upwind as they seemed deaf to our screamed (muttered) responses. After crossing an EFM we had a fun 50 feet of deep muckety-muck amidst overgrown pricker bushes that afforded the hash's best moments. When Wacko told Solo that the best way through was to go under (the prickers), Solo, (even more brain-dead than usual thanks to the Phillie 1/2 marathon), assumed Wacko meant go under the water and immediately obliged. From here, the hash continued in BORING fashion, down several roads to the Twin Pines Airport with minor diversions into a ball field and Postage Paid territory. Then came the real Hash Crime. After devouring all the Coke and salsa in about a half an hour (while watching members of the New Jersey Pro Bowler's Association dogfighting) we left! Abandoned our three lost comrades. The Geezer insisted there was no way they would find their way to the end. (Have we forgotten how Pushnermaybe psyched out Wacko's entire trail by the East Windsor Speedway with only a rookie to aid him?) Of course Pushnermaybe, "His friend Dan", and a "down- but-not-out" LFBB hobbled into view of the Geezervan just as it was pulling from the ON-IN, roughly 45 minutes after the rest of the pack had arrived, equaling the record set by Toxic Waste and Postage Paid, (though theirs were individual efforts). What hash crime could compare with depriving these poor persevering hounds of their appointed rounds? The only I can think of off hand would be something like putting marks inside a guard rail or setting a double cross across an entire golf course. But fortunately hashing knows no guilt, as Dr. No so aptly pointed out again and again whenever concern was raised over the missing, "Read the shirt."
