Big Nut’s Last Hash

Description, polemics, comments and lies: On June 19, 1991, whoever writes these 
things wrote of Hash #316.4 (set by Throatwarbler, and attended by Wacko, the 
Geezer, Dances with Frogs, Flasher Gordon, and the unlamented Dr. No), “No one got 
terminally lost, though Kaixu apparently tried.  In an uncharacteristically noble gesture, 
No and the Geezer offered to walk the trail backwards to look for our lost rookie. The 
pair covered the 20 feet to the tracks before realizing their folly, losing the trail, and 
settling in to drink. Wacko then took over, but got only slightly farther as the intrepid 
Kaixu appeared from some direction orthogonal to the trail.” Over the next 91 hashes 
not much changed. Kaixu became Big Nut, Little Nut was born, and the PH3 was 
occasionally favored with some edible food.  Big Nut was still lost a lot, but generally 
managed to arrive at the cooler as the beer was opened. 

On this third visit to Assunpink, Wacko set a ninety minute run over ankle-bursting 
terrain fit only for horses, nine-banded armadillos, and three-toed giant sloths (who 
never touch the ground during their long, ugly, and pointless lives). The hash began 
with 100 yards of running past the Lone Rangerette and Tonta to an immediate regroup 
(?). The Reptile Fancier found a snake. Geezer found trout lilly leaves. RoJo found the 
cooler. We all found ticks. There were bugs and the particularly evil-looking orange mud 
that never comes off. I think it’s radioactive. Big Nut got lost. The salsa was as boring 
as this write-up. There was a lecture by the LRF on “Lyme disease is a myth.” The 
laboratory portion consisted of the removal of a particularly well-attached tick from 
Meredith’s jugular.
