Eagles and Chickens

Description, Comments, Polemics, and Lies: The New York HHH came to Princeton 
to escape the city and find “a nice country run” as they put it. What they got was 
something else, although their lives are apparently so deprived and their horizons so 
limited that they didn’t realize this. This Saturday presented an airborne swamp. The air 
was hot with evil vapors and the ground sodden and malodorous. A brief lecture to the 
group assembled at the Convent of the Scared Heart (or something like that) on the 
virtues of the Chicken Trail (laid especially for George Bush) and the longer Eagle trail, 
and off we were to -surprise- the Woodfield reservation. Somehow this obvious direction 
was lost on the LRF as he led the group down the road towards what anyone must have 
known was a dead end. Into Woodfield to the exit on Drake’s Corner Road and cries of 
“boring” were everywhere.  The appended map shows what then happened. 

              

At least they were able to produce major league inscrutable backchecks. So it went for 
the next 90 minutes. The trail led to Province Line, down the hill, along the notorious 
Pascal trap of yore (#80, 92) and then through the woods back to Woodfield, PDS, etc. 
Every half mile there was a repeat of the backcheck routine and we responded like 
lobotomized sheep every time. The On On featured real NY hospitality - the $10 
hamburger.  Want it rare? “Beat it buddy, I’ll tell you when you want it.”

There was a dog named Harley who refused to do a down down.
