Description, comments, polemics, and lies: 

New Road Park (yet again) was the start of the LRF’s effort on this balmy afternoon, 
and the trail wound (yet again) across the toxic waste field through the beech woods 
into the Whimpering Woods Development (yet again ad nauseum). 

What to expect on such a hash?  Well, it was all there.  This was a generic yawner for 
the grizzled veterans, but perhaps a reasonable sampler for all the new folks.

There was:

1. A traditional Reptile Fancier no-content introduction with a dire warning about 
trespassing. 

2. A meaningless, gets-you-nowhere giant loop at the start that every vet expects and 
could cut off if he/she wanted.  We run these things only to avoid upsetting the setter.  
It’s a kinder, gentler hash these days.  Years ago, such a transparent ploy would elicit 
savage cries and immediate shortcuts.

3. The Geezer wandered into another foul-smelling swamp that even the rookies 
avoided with ease.  So what else is new?  This feeble minded activity happens so often 
that no one even remarks it anymore. In this case the old guy went in all the way to his 
midsection.  In another person, not quite so long in the tooth, this would be cause for 
worry over the fates of future generations.  Obviously that’s no difficulty in his case.

4. Wacko thought he smelled beer and shortcut to the end on Route 27.  Sadly, as 
usual, he was completely wrong and spent a half hour or so fixing mailboxes and 
waiting for help to appear. It didn’t.

 5. Tito gave a nice imitation at the end of the legendary Mertz the Silent, and the 
Geezer complained.

6. There was truly dreadful food.  It’s an LRF specialty.
