PRINCETON HHH HASH #327.4 Date: September 8, 1991 Weather: lunar Set by: The Louisiana Reptile Fancier Hashers: Dr. No, Whacko, Throatwarbler, Geezer, Tito, Kaixu First To Cooler Joe Burns The Warehouses at the End of Time Description, comments, polemics, and lies: On the surface, it was an ordinary run: a sequence of huge warehouses in Yardley, or at least somewhere out in Nowhereland on the Turnpike. Yet this hash was surely special – something truly new – and truly frightening. For how many years have These Pages been (dis)graced by complaints about the venue? How many times have those wankers over at CDI* wynged and whined about “moonscapes”, “dreadful swamps” and the like? How many times have we cried Wolf? Hyperbole heaped upon hyperbole! There were wiser souls who sat calmly on the sideline, knowing that the time would come when the true minimum value hashvenue would appear. These Sages knew that when that horrible moment arrived, our dedicated readers would not realize that more than the usual complaining was going on. Well, gentle folk, the time is now. The Reptile Fancier capped his ten year search for the ultimately worthless trail with what must be an unbeatable standard. No map will list this place; mysterious white is all that greets the curious cartographer. Nothing moves here; no human touch breaks the march of one concrete façade after another; neither sign of life nor death breaks the dreadful limbo. What could lie within? Although these hideous buildings have neither entrance nor exit, surely they must contain something. There was enough space to hold all the artifacts of the human race, yet the runners were certain they were not only traversing the most desolate place in the universe, but were passing the ultimate cosmic joke as well; those buildings were surely empty. * What does CDI mean, anyway? Completely demented Individuals? Champion dimwit intellects?
