Description, comments:The Princeton 200.4th began a bit late. Due 27 November, 1988, it took off just short of 18 months behind schedule. Not bad given the organizational liabilities of this group. Wacko and the Schrinker set a relatively easy ramble through the Pine Barons. Actually this caused problems because both Baron von Richthoven and Baron de Burden were upset and loosed their Dobermen in an attempt to Pinsch the pack. We were rescued by an intrepid band of Bandiliero'd Banditos - the Ghost of Emiliano Carranza at the lead, who rode in shouting "Viva Zapata" and scattered the hounds, much to the dismay of the Dogschrinker who was looking forward to some good opportunities, and Wacko, who has a renowned thing for canines. Phil sent us off with an historical essay on the exploits of the legendary Carranza which provoked yawns from many and cries of "the hook" from some. By the time Wacko took over and became muddled while trying to explain the finer details of a circular check mark, all were ready to run, if only to stage an escape from the interminable harangue. Scrub, sand and swamp led to the tracks of the defunct Carranza RR at which a providential shortcut avoided more miles of the same, and the SCB's led on to the beer break. Post break running featured encounters with the Carranza branch of the Hell's Angels, who, in sharp contrast to the Rumson HHH, had shown up in their Harley'd splendor to harass the hounds. Rumson had apparently heard that it might rain, and no-showed out of fear of catching a wee chill. Perhaps their mommies kept them home for mother's day. The ON-ON featured beer, which ranged from the fairly decent to the more familiar panther piss, as well as the usual singing. These delicate, refined choruses are more at home in the elite drawing rooms of southern NJ, but were relegated on this day to the Salon de Tarp, and a torrential downpour which was only slightly deflected by the Geezer's canvas, a thing of age and tatters matching nicely the decrepitude of its owner. Food gone and beer guzzeled, with rain descending inexorably, the pack adjourned, some to the Knicks debacle, others more sensibly to Andy's Tavern. Let's went, Cisco.
