PHHH #1167.9 Sun Sep 23, 2007 Hare: HYP Hounds: Pyro, Speed Bumps, Dancing Fool, Delicate Psyche, Hand Solo, Windbreaker, Safe Sweats Venue: Cold Soil and Carter Rd, chez Terhune Orchards Weather: Golden Delicious Time: Happily Short Howdya Like Them Apples? Paully chose to visit this normally quiet spot at the height of the Terhune Orchards Apple Fest. Hordes of city dwellers came out to the "country" to commune with nature. They spent their entire afternoon variously: - boarding shuttle buses - standing in line for the port-a-john - paying $5 to get in - listening to a twangy country music band - picking up wormy windfalls from the orchard - riding on broken down ponies - buying sugar water with a "cider" label on the container - parking illegally at the water plant driveway - looking for little Johnny They also observed a scruffy ragtag bunch of mangy individuals crashing into the festivities from the fields at the rear. The hounds ran through yelling at the usual volume, getting in the way of the buses, not paying their $5, and generally creating mayhem. Happily it was all over in blessedly short fashion and the pack was regaled with a sugary on-in featuring sickly sweet corn salsa, sticky sweet pecan pie and other sugary confections too amorphous to classify. There were expired milk bones but sadly no Oliver to enjoy them, he having passed on to a better place. Reincarnation being what it is, take a very close look at the next virgin who shows up, especially if (s)he tries to sniff your crotch. Meanwhile Dancing Fool had a car full of real food as well as the stacks of recycling and assorted rubbish he normally carries around. Alas DF got stuck in traffic and the food never made it to the on-in. Talk at the on-in ran to conspiracy theories: clearly it was WiPi himself who sent the "abdication" e-mail, having disposed of the incumbent in grisly fashion. Would have been easier just to force feed him HYP's sugarfest. On On
