STEVENSON HALL HHH HASH #114 Date: Sunday, February 15, 1987 Weather: cold Set by: Sean Smith Runners: Courtney, Pascal, MJ, III, Saal, Cahn, Kaufman,Wachspress, Havens, Hiser and the Geezer "First to Cooler" Joe Burns, Kaufman (rumor) Description, comments: A long tour of frozen Princeton was set by SS in fluorescent blue. Unfortunately it's well known that the retina doesn't respond to blue below 20 F and thus many marks were missed. Indeed the start was a near record as the pack was lost after about 50 yards. Only the Crime of Wachspress (see #101) outdid this one for rapidity of packloss. Nor is it easy to remember a hash with more running through the mean streets of this yuppified town. Snow, ice and frozen concrete dominated. Nevertheless one must admit that there were some nice touches. We grazed Conte's, many certain it must be the endpoint and nearly all forgetting that Conte's is closed on Sundays (a result of already damaged grey matter further slowed by the arctic temperature). In the end it was Kaufman (it is said) who overran the beer with the pack, then collapsing from exhaustion, turned back and saw it. The geezer made a less than triumphant return from the Boston HHH with a DNF. But perhaps he was more crafty than it appears, as he avoided walking the long frozen miles back to the start. This was a particularly sadistic touch devised by SS. Are those initials a coincidence? Those who endured the forced march back to Stevenson, sweat freezing to their skins, will forever doubt it. Next Hash: #115 Sunday, March 1, 2:00 pm behind Stevenson 91. The geezer and MJ, III set. It's hard to believe, but this is the kid's first set. His penchant for swamp running and the geezer's renowned dementia should make for a good run. Be there. Bring a friend, or better yet, an enemy.
