The cries of delight when finishing first to cooler? Now it's the smell of the liniment and the cries of pain that motivate you to get this thing over with before another multiple of one hundred entices you out the door again. By that time you'll have forgotten the pain, in fact you'll have forgotten just about everything. Pinch hitter Hopalong was limousined down from Beantown for the event, bringing his once-vicious left-hander change-up with him. Even though a shadow of his former self, he was good enough to make the other old timers wish they'd stayed home. The Tigers 'coptered in Minor Minor Minor Tom and his Moll from Virginia. First Inning Mass confusion at the start, some 30-odd (very odd) social misfits staggered from the tailgate party into the batter's circle. Could it be the quarry yet again? Rambo quivered with anticipation. Hashers limped off in all directions, the youngsters at high speed (but the wrong direction). Second Inning After another loop, a Wachspress arrow temped the hotheads into the canal. Of course the geezers (lowercase g) shuffled around by road. Here we are back at the parking lot again, ready to head up towpath once more. HYP, Juicy and progeny arrive. Juicy and progeny take off in disgust. Third Inning Predictably, Wrong Way took the wrong way at this point, never to be seen again. Wacko arrives at the start - where is everyone? After 1000 hashes you think he could afford a watch. Fourth Inning Screaming epiphets in Chinese, LRF abandoned the chase, dragging RoJo with him to an early shower. What a debacle! Meanwhile the front pack had disappeared, a chase pack was forming and Wipi was negotiating Terminal B. Fifth Inning Hopalong's arm is getting loose now, thank God for Ben-Gay. The Old Timers have found their second wind now, and the pain is easing. Sixth Inning Beerless beer-check at Herrontown Woods. Why are we doing this again? Hopalong is retired and Geezer brought in to close. Seventh Inning Stretch Eighth Inning Samoyed Park gets Sonnovabitch excited (and Salsa Bitch too). Did you catch a whiff of that poodle? Sniffed her butt and I think she likes me. Ninth Inning The finish line in sight, the PHHH Wanker Ale is near, life is good. Unless you're in the third wave in which case nothing tells you it's over, so it's extra innings back to P-town. See you at #1500.000, Sunday October 12, 2014. Next Sunday, #1010.9, October 17, Weepee sets using white powder from Amsterdam
