The Future of the Relationship between American Jews and Israel / Public Lecture
The relationship between American Jews and Israel, whose closeness and alignment characterized much of the 20th century, is on uncertain ground. Denominational and partisan divides and public spats between Israeli officials and American Jewish leaders reveal growing tensions between the two communities. Join Dr. Yehuda Kurtzer, president of the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, as he analyzes the present juncture and suggests ways in which the complex relationship could evolve. The lecture "Israel and American Jews: The Future of a Challenging Relationship" will be held on December 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the College Avenue Student Center, 126 College Avenue, New Brunswick. Free and open to the public. Free parking is available. RSVP to rsvpBildner@sas.rutgers.edu or 848-932-2033. More information at BildnerCenter.Rutgers.edu. The talk is sponsored by the Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers.
