PPPL’s Science On Saturday Lecture Series

The Ronald E. Hatcher Science On Saturday Lecture Series returns to the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) this year to offer lectures to science fans of all ages. Science On Saturday begins Jan. 18 with a slate of world-leading speakers who will discuss topics ranging from the science and art of polling to the promise of quantum computing. Talks run from 9:30-11 a.m., which includes a presentation and Q&A. The talks are held online and in person at the Melvin B. Gottlieb Auditorium in PPPL’s Lyman Spitzer Building, located at 100 Stellarator Road in Princeton, New Jersey. Register here for the Zoom link for all the talks.

The first talk by Jongsoo Yoo, a principal research physicist and deputy head of discovery plasma science at PPPL, will focus on magnetic reconnection, the mysterious process behind solar flares. Below is the full lineup for 2025.

SSAAM Presents: Lord, Write My Name – A Gospel Concert Celebrating the African American Experience

The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM) will ring in the new year with Lord, Write My Name – The Gospel and African American Experience in Spirituals, featuring acclaimed baritone Keith Spencer and award-winning composer Peter Hilliard. This soul-stirring concert, held at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing on Saturday, January 18, 2025, will weave together iconic African American spirituals and powerful narratives, poetry, and letters written by enslaved and free Black historical figures.. Doors open at 2:30 PM, and the performance begins at 3 PM.
