Hopewell Harvest Fair

The Harvest Fair returns again to the grounds of Hopewell Elementary School on Saturday October 21 from 10AM-4PM. A cherished local tradition, it attracts families from all over the area to enjoy a day of old-fashioned fun, while raising funds for local non-profits. Lead Sponsors of the 2023 Fair are Morehouse Engineering and Lakeland Bank.

Activities for kids of all ages: Games, Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, inflatables, free demos with the Hopewell Fire Department, Hopewell Valley Central High School SPIKE Robotics Club, and more!  Old-fashioned country fun: A bake-off, homegrown vegetable displays, a kids’ straw maze to explore, and free country games.  Entertainment all day: Great live music all day! Bluegrass, rock-n-roll, country, and more!

Corn Harvest, Howell Living History Farm

Children's Craft: Popcorn Ball (11:00–3:00)

Get out your husking peg...it's time to pick corn! With more than 120,000 ears to pick, farmers could use your hand filling a horse-drawn wagon with field corn that will be ground into flour and donated to local food banks as part of Howell Farm's Share the Harvest Program. Next, head to the barn to help shell and grind corn for Howell Farm’s animals...or the farmhouse to make a batch of cornbread from freshly-ground cornmeal.

Household Recycling and S.H.R.E.D. Fest Event

Pumpkin Palooza, Arts Council of Princeton

Join Pezz Glassworks for a live glass blowing demonstration and shop their glass pumpkin patch. Kids can make their own clay pumpkins and learn to extra pumpkin DNA from molecular biology students at Princeton University. Free.

Native Seed Collection Workshop, The Watershed

(Rain Date Oct 22nd, 1 p.m. - 2 p. m.)

Where: The Watershed Institute (meet under big tent with picnic tables in front of Watershed Center)

No registration required. Participants will be guided by River-Friendly Coordinator, Olivia Spildooren and Roosevelt Environmental Commission Chair Ellen Silverman on a hike around The Watershed Institute's property to collect native flower seeds. Each person will go home with seeds and knowledge that they can use to grow native flowers at home or pass on to friends or family. Some of the seeds collected can be donated for use in an upcoming Winter Sowing Workshop event happening Wednesday, January 24 at 6pm. Remember to dress to be outside, among tall plants. Be aware that ticks are still out there. Wear protective clothing -- a hat, gloves, long sleeves, long pants, pant legs tucked into socks, and tick repellent. Bring small clippers or scissors if you have them. For your safety, wear orange.

No Name Dance--A Swinging Evening of Dancing, Central Jersey Dance Society

Central Jersey Dance Society presents our No Name Dance--A Swinging Evening of Dancing:

7:00pm-8:00pm: Hustle lesson (beginner/intermediate) taught by our talented, award-winning instructor Donna Boyle.

8:00pm-11:00pm: Open dancing to a great playlist of California Mix, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Night Club 2-Step, Country 2-Step, and Latin dance music with Donna Boyle as DJ.

Location: Suzanne Patterson Center, 45 Stockton Street (for GPS, use: 1 Monument Drive), Princeton, NJ 08540. No partner needed; newbies, singles, and couples are welcome. United Front Against Riverblindness (UFAR) Annual Soiree

United Front Against Riverblindness (UFAR) is pleased to invite members of the public to its 13th annual Soiree on Saturday, October 21 at 7 p.m. at the Forrestal Marriott, 100 College Road East.

UFAR's mission is to improve the health and well-being of the Congolese people by defeating five targeted neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The Soiree will honor William I. Campbell, CEO and Managing Partner of Sanoch Management and founding board member and chair emeritus of the END Fund, which is committed to ending NTDs. In 2001, together with his wife and daughters, he created The Campbell Family Foundation. The primary goal was for him and his family to become directly active philanthropists with a mission of providing low-cost interventions to change lives.

The evening includes a dinner of African and American dishes, plus entertainment by Nkumu Katalay & the "Life Long Project" Band. Katalay is a Congolese native who joins UFAR in the mission to improve the lives of those in the Congo. Tickets and sponsorships are available at ufar-ntds.org.
