Princeton University Eating Clubs Tour, Historical Society of Princeton

Hunterdon County Historical Society Book Sale

The Hunterdon County Historical Society will host a spring book sale on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Doric House Museum, 114 Main St., Flemington. The sale features a variety of histories and biographies, along with an eclectic collection of rare and unusual books and some popular favorites. You’ll find a treasure trove of books about townships and counties in New Jersey and various state histories. Also available are biographies, first editions, books on U.S. history including the American Revolution and the Civil War, first editions, and reproductions of historic maps and posters.

Cash or personal check only. All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit HCHS’s mission to preserve, protect and share Hunterdon County’s history.

When Compassion Defeated Cruelty, Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund (LALDEF)

The Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund (LALDEF) is proud to sponsor “When Compassion Defeated Cruelty,” the story of how Martha’s Vineyard opened its arms to warmly welcome a planeload of Venezuelan immigrants, beating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at his own game. Program will include speakers from the Vineyard as well as local and regional immigration authorities, who will lead a discussion/Q&A on policy.

Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie will host a two-part Saturday afternoon lecture series by award-winning author and presidential historian Louis Picone May 6 and May 20. Both programs will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and will include a Q&A and a book signing reception along with the lectures. Trenton City Museum is in historic Cadwalader Park, accessed by car from Parkside Ave. It offers plenty of building-adjacent parking. On Saturday, May 6, at 4:00 p.m. in the magnificent Princeton University Chapel on the campus of Princeton University, Princeton Pro Musica will present a program of sumptuous choral music by American composers Morten Lauridsen and Shawn Kirchner. The program will also feature Eric Plutz playing the Organ Suite No. 1 by American composer Florence Price.
