Halloween Night Hike, The Watershed

Saturday October 29, 2022
6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Join us on a fun journey through the woods on a crisp autumn night. You will hike through a pumpkin-lined trail through the woods and will meet Stingy Jack, learn about the first Jack O'Lantern and meet Irish folktale characters in an original drama.

The event's actors tell a story with five skits along the lit trails that wind through the woods. While other Halloween programs are designed to frighten, our goal for this magical evening is to educate and enchant. The unforgettable evening ends with the group roasting marshmallows around a fire.

We attempt to make the children feel comfortable in the outdoors and hope to engender a feeling of awe and respect for nature.? Guided hikes begin every 15 minutes; the last hike begins at 8:30 p.m. Space is limited; register early to get your preferred time slot.

D&R Greenway’s Masquerade Ball

6:30 PM - 10:00 PM

D&R Greenway's Masquerade Ball and fundraiser returns Saturday, October 29, 6:30-10 p.m. at Hillside Farm, Hopewell, the former home of Betty Wold Johnson. The individual ticket price is $250. Ticket purchases and sponsorships support the land trust's work to open Hillside Farm as a public preserve. This year's theme, "The Halloween Tree," bridges the world of nature with the world of magic, celebrating D&R Greenway's preservation success stories while recalling Ray Bradbury's fantastical adventure story. In the spirit of "The Halloween Tree," this Masquerade Ball celebrates the thousands of trees thriving on the 22 thousand acres of land preserved by D&R Greenway, the result of a true confluence of people, vision, and dedicated action.
