Concert, Westminster Community Orchestra: The Sound of Autumn

Join Dr. Ruth Ochs and the Westminster Community Orchestra on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. for "The Sound of Autumn," an autumnally-themed concert featuring the world premiere of Dr. Kathleen Scheide's Concertino for Autumn with The Guitars of Westminster Conservatory, Mark Johnstone, director. The performance will also include Emilie Mayer's Faust Overture, Mikhail Glinka's Kamarinskaya, movements from Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 ("Pastoral"), and Richard Rodgers' The Sound of Music (Selections for Orchestra), arranged by Robert Russell Bennett. The event will take place at the Robert L. Annis Playhouse on the Westminster campus in Princeton (101 Walnut Lane). A suggested donation of $10/person is payable at the door. Annual Trail and Treat Bike Ride, Lawrence Hopewell Trail

Event features face painting, Halloween crafts, and live music, followed by two rides on the LHT. The short, quarter-mile loop is geared toward younger riders six and under, and a one-mile ride will be offered for the more experienced riders ages six to 12. Walkers, scooters, skaters, and strollers are welcome. Children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and to decorate their in celebration of the Halloween theme.

Speaker Series, Princeton Branch of the English-Speaking Union

Performing Shakespeare - Actor Tom Kopeche, best known for his roles as Assistant Secretary of State Bob Slatterly on The West Wing (1999) and the Star Trek spin-off television shows, will discuss the pleasures and pitfalls of performing Shakespeare.

The Princeton Branch of the English-Speaking Union has announced its speaker series for Fall 2022. All talks will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM at the Princeton Senior Resource Center, 101 Poor Farm Road, Princeton NJ, and may also be accessed via Zoom. Talks are open to all members and the public. There is no charge, however, proof of vaccination is required for entry.

Concert, Princeton Pro Musica

Princeton Pro Musica, American Prize Award winner for choral performance, will present its season-opening concert on Sunday, October 23, at 4:00 p.m. Princeton Pro Musica returns to one of the most beloved pieces in the choral repertoire—the most profound and moving work of consolation in the face of grief, and one of the most beautiful works of the Romantic period and, perhaps, of all time: Brahms’s “human” Requiem. The concert will be held at Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University.
