4th Annual Delaware River Cleanup

In an effort to help cleanup the Delaware River, a coalition of volunteer organizations and the Clean Communities programs in Hunterdon and Mercer counties, together with the NJ State Park Service, announced the 4th annual Delaware River Cleanup for the morning of Saturday, Sept. 18 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Registered volunteers should bring a signed waiver, insect repellent, and water to the event. Comfortable clothing, long pants, closed-toe shoes, and masks are mandatory. Participants will be provided with trash bags and gloves. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and light refreshments as a thank you for their time. Ned Hector in the Revolutionary War, Mercer County Library, Hickory Corner Branch

Edward "Ned" Hector was a free Black man who distinguished himself in the Battle of Brandywine and the Battle of Germantown, contributing to America gaining its freedom. Noah Lewis is a historical educator who brings Ned Hector to life, complete with the uniform of the Continental soldier. Portraying Ned Hector, Mr. Lewis will discuss: Blacks choosing sides; Washington and the slave soldiers; Colonial manners and clothing; and more. Registration is required.

Grand Opening, Princeton Makes

Princeton Makes, a new Princeton-based artist cooperative, will hold its Grand Opening on Saturday, September 18 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at its artist studios and retail space in the Princeton Shopping Center. Activities at the Grand Opening include art demonstrations, plein-air painting in the courtyard, live music, open studios so visitors can talk with the artists, and a chance to shop in our beautiful art market. The event is free and open to the public.

Princeton Makes is a cooperative comprised of local artists who work across a range of artistic genres, including painting, drawing, stained glass, sculpture, textiles, and jewelry. Customers will be able to support local artists by shopping for a wide variety of art, including large paintings, prints, custom-made greeting cards, stained glass lamps and window hangings, jewelry in a variety of designs and patterns, and more. Party Again Benefit, Princeton Symphony Orchestra

The Princeton Symphony Orchestra's (PSO) Princeton Festival Guild is ready to party again on Saturday, September 18 from 3-5pm in support and anticipation of The Princeton Festival's 18th season. The Guild is hosting a relaxed and gracious gathering on the verdant grounds and grand porch of The Castle, an aptly named private home in Hopewell, NJ. Proceeds will go directly to The Princeton Festival in preparation for June 2022 performances. The party is the first Festival event held since The Princeton Festival merged with the PSO earlier this summer.

Princeton Photo Workshop: Sunset at Philadelphia's Boathouse Row

This class will have you exercising all your photographic muscles, from photographing people to shooting architectural details, from high F-stops to shallow depth-of-field, from dynamic hand-held street shots to tripod images during sunset and "blue night" to capture the boathouses and their reflections on the water.
